Berk really doesn't mean idiot 🙊

VladimirCutiePutiPie · 19/01/2021 20:57

Berkeley as this is my dog’s name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/01/2021 20:55

Is Ryan the surname or the middle name?
And for a boy or a girl?

Brooke is nice and very useable for a girl (technically it's unisex but thanks to Brooke Shields it's really only used for girls).

Berkeley wouldn't work for either sex in the UK, as "Berk" is a common (if dated) insult meaning idiot.

Bram or Blake are nice boys names I think.
Blythe or Bay are pretty, if unusual girls choices imo.

Barmy.

Changethetoner · 19/01/2021 17:56

Benjamin
Bruce
Bob
Bernard
Barclay

PattyPan · 19/01/2021 16:05

Braxton as a name reminds me of the apocryphal story of a woman hearing the word chlamydia at the hospital, thinking it sounded nice and naming her daughter it!

Firebird83 · 19/01/2021 14:02

I’m guessing you’re American?

Bunnybigears · 19/01/2021 14:00

If its a girl Brooke is nice, I wouldnt use it for a boy.

Berkeley or however you spelt it is just odd for a boy or a girl.

KirstenBlest · 19/01/2021 13:57

Brooke Bond
Beverley Ryan
Brian Ryan
Barker Ryan
Berkeley Hunt

OwMyNeck · 19/01/2021 12:58

Both hideous. Please don't.

KindnessCrusader · 19/01/2021 12:57

I've never heard the name Berkeley. Brooke is nice. I don't see why it couldn't be used for a boy to be honest, same as River is usually a boys name but no reason why it couldn't be used for a girl 🤷‍♀️

ProudAuntie76 · 19/01/2021 12:22

Guessing Ryan is the surname?

emmathedilemma · 19/01/2021 12:20

Why don't you use Ryan as a first name?

sleepingfox · 19/01/2021 11:53

I like Brooke for a girl.

I’d assume Berkeley was a boy, and I’d definitely avoid the name if you’re in the UK. Theres the connotation of the Berkeley Hunt, rhyming slang / berk, and the brand of cigarettes.

LochJessMonster · 19/01/2021 11:29

I do like Braxton and Brodie though

LiJo2015 · 19/01/2021 11:17

Neither - sorry. Both sound harsh.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/01/2021 11:00

I knew a lovely lad called Brook a few years ago. You definitely need to lose the E on the end though...

SoupDragon · 19/01/2021 10:59

@MrsMoastyToasty

Berkeley is the name of a castle just north of Bristol. It also sounds the same as Barclays, as in Barclays Bank.
Yes.

Except it still says "Berk".

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 19/01/2021 10:57

I do actually know an adult called Berke, wasnt born in the UK though, and I'm not close enough to him to ask where he got his name from, he's cypriot/USA. He never got any shit from us on his name, but then, we were all young adults and he was a great guy so no-one took the piss.

Its not a great name to use in the uk imo. In the USA Berkeley is also a university in california.

lagerandblack · 19/01/2021 10:54

Eeww Berkeley..... as in a packet of cigarettes! Give your head a wobble .

smoothchange · 19/01/2021 10:53

Maybe just call the baby Ryan

Yoshinori · 19/01/2021 10:52

Oh god

SallyTimms · 19/01/2021 10:50

Burger King will be the result of BK initials.!

SallyTimms · 19/01/2021 10:49

Braxton hicjs

Barclay Bank

Berkeley Square

Op please don't go out of your way to try and think up a different or unusual name, often they miss the mark!

Are you just wanting the initial B?
