Which would you choose?

Oh, forgot Gaia - which is odd as DD was very nearly called this!

jambeforeclottedcream · 17/01/2021 21:39

Is Juno Greek or Roman??
Diana
Pandora
Artemis
Phoebe
Persephone

Ginevere · 17/01/2021 21:38

Definitely Athena, it’s on the shortlist for our middle name!

Chilver · 17/01/2021 21:37

@Unicant

oh and we have Eurydice on our list. I love that story so much... but we chickened out of using it in the end
I dont know how to say that one out loud.
HexWitch · 17/01/2021 21:28

Persephone and Pandora.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/01/2021 21:28

Cassiopeia. It just sounds so very beautiful to me (even though the myth isn't great). Non - mythological Cassia would probably be easier on a child though if she were shy/less confident.

Second choice would be Galatea - again it just sounds so pretty and lyrical to me. But that's even less used/common than Cassiopeia!

For boys - Apollo, but again I don't think I'm brave enough.

Unicant · 17/01/2021 21:25

I love Psyche so much... but I could never use it in reality
I also love Olympia and Halcyone but again perhaps a bit too much for reality..

Ariadne is lovely and actually I think you could use that one! Circe is also lovely.

My husbands name is Leander! He just told everyone his name was Lee at school haha

Magicbabywaves · 17/01/2021 21:25

I did, I have an Iris. I also love Hebe, Persephone and Io.

TempsPerdu · 17/01/2021 21:25

Clio (just wish it wasn’t a car), Iris, or Athena. Or, if I was feeling especially brave, Calypso (my guilty pleasure name).

Not sure for boys - maybe Zephyr if I was being adventurous? Friend of a friend has a little Perseus though...

MillieEpple · 17/01/2021 21:22

Atlas and Tyche

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/01/2021 21:21

Decent but doomed, sadly Sad

borntohula · 17/01/2021 21:20

Hades

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 17/01/2021 21:17

Oh yes, or Hector - he was quite decent I think.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 17/01/2021 21:16

Penelope
Patroclus - shite sounding name but a slightly less terrible person than Achilles.
Circe

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/01/2021 21:14

Iris, Helen, Alexander, Melissa, Simon
Possibly Hector or Xanthe
Jason is an acceptable name but I don't much like it personally and I don't like the associations
Chloe is an acceptable name, but not a favourite of mine
Delia, Hebe, Hermione, Irene, Maia, Penelope, Phoebe ditto

Most of them have terrible associations, or where they don't, it just seems hubristic and grandiose to give a child the name of a god.
