What are your top 5 baby girl names?

Also... would a colleague naming their child your top name during your pregnancy make you change your option or would you keep it?

I so wanted Liadan (don’t know how to do a fada!) for DD, but DH wasn’t sold on it. It’s still one of my favourite names.

The colleague thing would bother me a bit but it would depend on how close you were and how long the name has been your favourite. If the name has been your number one for many years then I still use it Smile

The colleague thing wouldn't bother me unless they were a particularly close friend as well as a colleague.

And yes it would personally, I wouldn't use the same name as anyone I knew. But its personal opinion. Especially if it's a common name like Olivia, then they can expect other people will want to use it.

Could only get it down to 6, sorry! Re colleague, in all honesty I probably wouldn’t use the name, but I am a total name geek and have a bit of a thing about wanting to pick names that are as ‘unique’ in my circle as possible.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using a name a colleague chooses. You probably won't be colleagues forever. I'd probably have mentioned when the name was announced that it was one of your top choices too, what a coincidence. I think the popularity of the name influences my decision somewhat.If the name is Olivia, you can't be surprised that there are dozens of them; if the name is Artemisia then that might be more of an issue.

There are very few people whose baby names would affect my choices though (though I will admit when someone announces a name I often think 'good, that's not one of mine'!).
