Hi everyone, you've helped us so much with comments on various names. We have been swinging back and forth with long names shortened to nice nicknames, vetoed about 100 as I've discovered I'm truly fussy!! Now undecided between Emilia, Daisy and Ella. Family told me kindly that daisy is a cows name which has completely put us off despite it being a forerunner initially. Now I'm just thinking that simple is better! Ella, common yes, but pretty? I know that Amelia and Emilia which are our other options seem to be far more popular here than Ella, but what are your thoughts?

I do love Ella but there are a fair few in youngest DC’s class. That said, I do believe that the name was at its peak popularity when DC was born. By the time your child enters mainstream school it may not be as popular? It’s a very classic name which I still adore!

Ella is lovely. Emilia/Amelia are my most disliked names due to the very ugly 'mealy' sound. Mealy is a horrible word.

It’s OK, but bland. I prefer names with more oomph. I’m not keen on your other names, though, so Ella is best out of those.

I'm afraid I find Ella the dullest imaginable name. Emilia is much nicer. Would you consider Emma?

Ella is lovely, also love Etta / Ettie

Lovely name. Infact I was set on Ella for quite a few months but have thought of something else that has swayed me. Still really like that name though.

Veryverycalmnow · 15/01/2021 09:11

Both Ella and Amelia/Emilia are lovely pretty names
