I'm finding it so hard to settle on a girl's name - there are so many lovely ones out there. Sorted if a boy.

Which of these stand out to you (if any!) as the nicest? Thanks!

Esme
Grace
Eva
Leah
Erin
Sylvie
Ayda
Juliette
Jasmine

Esme like this but is go king then shorten,I think Esmeralda is beautiful
Grace fine, nice
Eva. Again I'd go king, Evangeline
Leah meh
Erin it's ok
Sylvie old lady not in a good way
Ayda I do quite like this
Juliette very pretty
Jasmine cute

Flippy87 · 18/01/2021 00:22

Esme- I really dislike this name, the way people pronounce it grates on me which has ruined it for me as it should be a lovely name
Grace- this is fine
Eva- also fine
Leah- dislike
Erin- love this
Sylvie- quite like this
Ayda- not keen, could cause issues with spelling or pronunciation?
Juliette- why not just Juliet?
Jasmine- quite like

Liana2021 · 18/01/2021 00:20

It’s difficult you have a lovely list but Jasmine is my favourite of all

Babydust13 · 17/01/2021 15:10

I'd choose Erin or Sylvie

TopBants · 17/01/2021 09:19

My question with Esme, is how do you pronounce it without the é? Is it ezz-mee?

Chilldonaldchill · 17/01/2021 09:16

Esme - is ok, I don't love it
Grace - really not keen, so boring
Eva - it's ok, very popular
Leah - this is one of my pet hate names
Erin - it's ok.
Sylvie - I like this
Ayda - I love Ada but really don't like this spelling. I would wonder if you wanted it pronounced like Ada or like Aida or something else
Juliette - lovely though I prefer Juliet
Jasmine - is ok

Easily Juliet(te) or Sylvie for me with Ada being up there too if spelt like this.

FluffyEggsontoast · 16/01/2021 08:38

Sylvie

TenThousandSpoons · 16/01/2021 08:32

Leah is my least favourite but I like all the others, if you change the spellings to Ada and Juliet.
I think I’d choose Eva.

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 16/01/2021 08:23

Esme - really overdone
Grace - see above
Eva - beautiful bjt wkll be lost in a sea of Evie/Eve/Evelyns
Leah - pretty but seems dated
Erin - cool
Sylvie - beautiful
Ayda - looks like a spelling mistake. Quite like Ada
Juliette - very pretty
Jasmine - seems dated to me but often see it getting positive comments on here

I would definitely choose Sylvie! Closely followed by Juliette and then Eva.

Leo674 · 15/01/2021 17:45

All nice but favourites are Esme, Eva and Grace

Jattjewd · 15/01/2021 17:41

Jasmine and Eva are lovely. I really like Ada but it's very popular at the moment, likely to date in a few years.

formerbabe · 15/01/2021 17:24

Love Leah and Sylvie

Really dislike Grace...seems so wet to me and very popular. Also dislike Erin...it's an ugly sounding name to me.

Greenbook320 · 15/01/2021 17:12

Esme and Eva both stunning names x

Fozzleyplum · 15/01/2021 13:45

Sylvie ( although I prefer Sylvia) and Juliet spelled that way.

17caterpillars1mouse · 15/01/2021 13:42

Leah

Beautiful name that I've not heard in ages.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 15/01/2021 13:32

Esme was my girls name... I had 3 boys!

MBb217 · 15/01/2021 13:20

Esme stands out to me as the nicest!

MercyBodle · 15/01/2021 12:22

Sylvie and Juliet ( prefer this spelling) are my favourites

I also like: Ada, Grace, Erin, Leah.

Esme and Eva are okay.

I would cross off Jasmine.

KirstenBlest · 15/01/2021 08:33

Esme - nice but some people spell is Esmae (don't like) and some Esmée (like), so too complicated
Grace - nice but will be Grice in some accents, and she might not be graceful
Eva - overpopular
Leah - a bit nothingy
Erin - plain and harsh-sounding
Sylvie - not keen
Ayda - awful, Ada is better, but I'm not keen
Juliette - Juliet is much nicer
Jasmine - nice

Jasmine or Juliet

Enko · 15/01/2021 08:27

Sylvie or Juliette

EileenGC · 15/01/2021 08:24

I love Erin and Grace. I also really like Eva but not how it's pronounced in English so I personally wouldn't use it we were living in an English speaking country. It travels really well though so it will be recognised (maybe mispronounced) in most countries.

maddy68 · 15/01/2021 08:18

Esme and Eva are lovely

NeonFlamingos · 15/01/2021 08:18

Thank you for all your helpful replies! I agree now that Ada is how it should be (not Ayda).

I keep trying to imagine what I would like to be called but I think I'd be happy with any of them.

I think Sylvie, Eva & Leah are my front runners now.

Eva or Ayda (Ada)

MamaLoLo1 · 15/01/2021 02:20

I adore Sylvie - it has a classy sound to it and is beautiful written down - but like the flexibility of Erin. I can imagine a girly girl and a tomboy with this name.
