Josephine. Juniper is a bit too try-hard

Chambored · 22/01/2021 03:18

Juniper is gorgeous.
Josephine is dull.

Kokeshi123 · 22/01/2021 03:15

Josephine. Who wants "nipper" in the middle of their name?

zurigirl · 22/01/2021 03:11

I LOVE Juniper. It's on my list for sure.

For anyone who doesn't like the 'June' style nickname, I'm not a gin kind of person at all but because of the connection between gin and juniper berries, I thought Ginny would work really well as a nickname.

I don't like the name Josephine as much as I used to since I've got a problematic relationship with the only person I know with this name so there are some negative connotations there. Both Jo and Josie also sound very outdated to me. If I did ever use this name, I think I would prefer something like Effie as a nickname as someone else suggested earlier on though.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 18/01/2021 23:19

Josephine is beautiful, don’t like Juniper .

timetest · 18/01/2021 23:07

I love Josephine, Juniper sounds a bit twee.

SemperIdem · 18/01/2021 22:44

Josephine would be my preference. Juniper is very sharp sounding.

Onlinedilema · 17/01/2021 08:12

Josephine although the ones I know are never known by their full name not sure if this would bother you.

babynamelover · 17/01/2021 06:06

My oldest has a June variant name so I lean towards Juniper.
I personally find Josie a bit twee and Josephine terribly dated too me it's not in that old clunky cool category.

princessandthedragon · 17/01/2021 04:35

I don’t like Juniper at all sorry. Josephine is lovely

Hawkins001 · 17/01/2021 04:23

Juniper from assassin's creed or Josephine from la femme Nikita, how about both, one as the primary and the other as the middle name ?

MercyBodle · 17/01/2021 04:17

Juniper - much more interesting, exciting, cool and upbeat. Josephine is nice enough, but a touch dowdy.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/01/2021 16:37

Love Juniper. Would worry about June, and therefore preempt that with Juno.

partyatthepalace · 16/01/2021 16:36

Well not mad about either, but Juniper. And I think June will become fashionable soon if that ends up being a nickname.

There is just something depressing about Josephine, it makes me think of nuns and boiled cabbage (sorry for the cliche but I mean crappy convent schools). Although of course there is Napoleon’s Josephine. Don’t like jo or Josie much.

KindnessCrusader · 15/01/2021 12:53

Absolutely love Juniper.

Standrewsschool · 15/01/2021 12:32

Two different type of names. Juniper is floral-y, and more unusual. Josephine is more classic, and is probably due a comeback.

Other suggestions
Juliette/Juliet
Jasmine
Jessica
Julianna
Jemima

M0rT · 15/01/2021 12:32

I like them both but would choose Juniper of the two.
I know a lovely Josie, but I also always hear Grossie Josie from that film when I hear the name.

PoodleMoth · 15/01/2021 12:26

Really like Juniper but really dislike Josephine, can't put my finger on why!

Divebar · 15/01/2021 08:53

Juniper for me too.... I don’t know any. I know one Juno which you might imagine is a hipster / trendy name. If it had been up against Delphine as mentioned above I would have chosen that though.

motherofawhirlwind · 15/01/2021 08:47

Juniper no question. I'd probably use Pip as a nn, but also like Juno and June, Juni.

BrokenLink · 15/01/2021 08:44

I prefer Josephine. I have a feeling Juniper will become very dated.

Toffeefee23 · 15/01/2021 08:18

Josephine, classic, lovely, lots of options for nicknames.

Juniper is a bit hipster & more likely to spike in popularity then start to sound very dated.

daisypond · 15/01/2021 08:17

Josephine.

Isisiris · 15/01/2021 08:14

I dont like boys names to girl names names so dont like Josephine. I dont like the nickname jo either. Such a popular shortening for Joseph or Joanne or other myriad of 'jo' names.
I also love juniper as a name
So I'm with you OP.

CassandrasCastle · 15/01/2021 08:06

Juniper is amazing
