Caspar, Rowen or Tyler

Baby boy due anytime.. what's your favorite of Caspar, Rowen or Tyler? Middle name James.

I like Caspar best. Great choice.

Please not another Roman/Rowan/Roan, all these similar trendy popular names make my head spin I'm a bit fed up of them. Rowan is always used for baby girls near me and Roman for boys. Rowan is a girl name in Scotland (top 100 for baby girls but not top 100 for baby boys). Rowan is in top 200 names for girls in America too, and rising.

Tyler's on the "oh god, it's a Tyler" teacher's list of bound-to-be-naughty kids. As a nursery worker to be fair all the many Tylers I've known have been pretty awful. Who knows why.

When I was expecting DS1, I asked my uncle - a crown court judge - if I should avoid any names. Tyler was top of the list, unfortunately.

Rowan and Caspar are nice, though Grin

Really dislike Tyler. Rowan is quite nice. Caspar is probably my fav but our generation will always think of the friendly ghost, no? If you can get over the ghost thing, then Caspar would be my choice

They are 3 totally different style of name IMO.

I reckon Tyler will date really badly - it'll be the Wayne of this generation.

Caspar not really my cup of tea tbh honest. Dislike Jasper too. Sounds like something you'd name a pet.

Rowan is Ok. Doesn't rock my world but it is a change from all the billions of Oliver's and Harry's out there.

Caspar or Rowan. Tyler is nothing like the other two names and I wouldn’t choose it.

Rowan is also a ghost in ghostbusters

I have a Caspar and we get so many comments on how cool it is. My Caspar also has a a very traditional name as his middle name (think married to Kate Middleton) and I think it works very well.

A lot of Kaspers where I live ,yes spelt with the K , Eastern European parents . I really don’t like the name Tyler , but Rowen is a great name & I do like the nn Row .

To explain why people are saying Tyler is unusual - Here's the link below to the graph of the official statistics on Tyler. It peaked in 2012 but has fallen pretty dramatically every year since. Its left the top 100 and will be leaving the top 150 soon. Tyler is increasingly unusual whereas names like Rowan and Roman are booming.

Rowan best by far for me. I’m surprised people are saying Tyler isn’t popular/ is outside top 100, there seems to be loads of school aged tylers

@IamnotwhouthinkIam yes I see your point totally. I think because both Roman and Rowan are both top 100 yet Roman is about to enter top 50, people often mishear Rowan for Roman as there's currently slightly more Romans being born each year. I've actually had Rowan spelt so many ways on the Christmas cards this year: Roan, Rohan, Rowen, Roman. But you're right a lot of names get spelt wrong.

I know Tyler isn't popular on mumsnet, but I quite like it! Prefer Caspar, but Tyler is nice too.
