Sophia, much more classy.

RuthW · 14/01/2021 12:23

Sienna is nicest in my opinion. They are both equally as popular.

What about Sophie sienna? Has a ring to it!

YoniAndGuy · 14/01/2021 12:17

Sophia is overused, I much prefer Sophie, and it sounds less fussy.

Sienna is a bit naff and will date. No comparison really. Also, no real good short form - See?

Luckyelephant1 · 13/01/2021 09:29

Sienna is my absolute fave

MercyBodle · 12/01/2021 04:30

Sophia.

Porridgeoat · 12/01/2021 00:37

Saffron sapphire

calimommy · 11/01/2021 23:22

We have chosen Sienna for this baby. I'm surprised tbh as I never considered it before but I like it very much now. I would rather use one N (Siena) on principal, but I prefer the look of the 2Ns 🤷‍♀️😂 Also it might be easier for people to spell it correctly if 2Ns is better known name-wise. Not a huge issue though.

While I love Sophia/Sofia I do agree that it is very common, although classic. So it really just depends if you care that it is well used or not!

SemperIdem · 11/01/2021 23:16

Sophia.

Sienna is a name I find really grating.

SnoozyLou · 11/01/2021 22:42

We had Sienna as a middle name for our little girl. Sophie was supposed to be her first name, but once she was born, it wasn't the right name for her.

Haworthia · 11/01/2021 22:38

Sienna. There are about six Sophias (or Sophies) in every year group at my kids’ school. And I know two baby Sophias born last year.

It’s lovely but sooooo overused.

Honeyroar · 11/01/2021 22:38

I don’t love either, but much prefer Siena (and definitely with one N!)

PattyPan · 11/01/2021 22:34

Definitely Sophia - it's classic, works in lots of languages and has a lovely meaning. I don't like place names and Sienna is a bit too trendy.

LawnFever · 11/01/2021 22:29

Sienna definitely, Sophia/Sophie is so overused

LarkDescending · 11/01/2021 22:27

Sophia by a mile for me.

ParisJeTAime · 11/01/2021 21:42

Ooooh I like them about equally, but I think Sophia is more timeless. So I think Sophia, by a whisker.

Firebird83 · 11/01/2021 21:21

Sophia is classic. Sienna will date badly.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 11/01/2021 19:48

Sophia (while very popular) feels much more classic to me - it's an elegant name with a Regency or European feel imo, so would be my choice of the two.

Sienna is a celeb led name, so feels a little bit tacky to me - it shot up in popularity in 2005 (from rarely used, to the top 100) when Sienna Miller became famous the year before.

Yennefer19 · 11/01/2021 19:12

Sienna

RosieGirl27 · 11/01/2021 19:07

Sophia is very common

Charley50 · 11/01/2021 19:06

I love both.

Sexnotgender · 11/01/2021 19:06

Sophia is classic. Sienna is lovely but I feel it will date.

crumpet · 11/01/2021 19:03

But both are nice

crumpet · 11/01/2021 19:02

I think I prefer Sophie to Sophia

LesLavandes · 11/01/2021 18:58

My daughter is a 'Siena'.
