Any views on the names Nicole, Lorna or Stella?

My DP also likes Sophia, but since it is so popular I am not sure in case she will be one of five in her class!

I like all 3 names OP, I think you have good taste!

PrivateParty · 09/01/2021 20:24

Nicole is the only one I can imagine as a little girl. Lorna is a late 30s/40s woman's name. Stella is an older woman again.

ParisJeTAime · 09/01/2021 18:45

I met a toddler Lorna at the park recently and thought it was adorable! We are near London.

Nicole isn't to my taste and feels a bit 80s to me.

Stella I'm not keen on. By weird coincidence, I know three sets of parents who chose this name, and all of them are arseholes. It's really weird and it has sort of put me off the name!

DacwMamYnDwad · 09/01/2021 18:10

I'm probably middle aged and I have only met one Lorna of about my age. I know a few women called Lona, not sure if it's the welsh version, but Lorna in Wales and Scotland has a rolled r.

I think Lorna (pronounced Lawna) is nice.

Mally2020 · 09/01/2021 00:34

people being really rude about lorna I have a hyphenated name with lorna being one of them and Im only in my early 20's it isn't a middle aged name awful people

Chilldonaldchill · 08/01/2021 23:22

Stella is lovely.
I feel as though I ought to like Lorna (I lived Lorna Doone as a child) but I don't.
I do really like Luna and Lara.
I dislike Nicole. It feels very 80s/early 90s.

SpottyBrolly · 08/01/2021 23:05

I think they're all lovely. I especially like Lorna, it's really sweet.

pilates · 08/01/2021 19:54

70/80’s names
Sophia is nice

ivyjoy · 08/01/2021 19:45

Love Nicole. Not keen on the others.

MeMeMeYou · 08/01/2021 19:44

Like Nicole. Don't mind Lorna. Don't like Stella

BabloHoney · 08/01/2021 19:32

Love Nicole! Think it’s such a beautiful name

Inkpaperstars · 08/01/2021 19:29

I really like Lorna, it’s on my list but no one else in the family likes it (yet!). Other than Lorna Doone I have no associations with it, I have never met a Lorna.

Stella and Nicole are a bit more dated/80s but could see both coming back soon.

micc · 08/01/2021 18:30

Nicole - it's ok, a little plain imo
Lorna - I like this one, it's not common but it's a name everyone knows.
Stella - looooove Stella. The beer is an annoying thing people might think of but it could be worse!! I love it.
Sophia- it's pretty, but yes very common.

Edgeoftheledge · 08/01/2021 15:31

If you like Stella what about Nova?

TopBants · 08/01/2021 15:31

Love Lorna ❤️

Edgeoftheledge · 08/01/2021 15:29

I wouldnt use any of them, I like Stella but reminds me of Shameless.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 15:27

I know a Lorna in her twenties, known her since a small child, has the most amazing dark eyes and chestnut hair, it just suits her so well. I never had a girl but would so have used it, that or Mairi

VenusClapTrap · 08/01/2021 15:24

Lorna is beautiful. So rare now too.

Sausagedog1 · 08/01/2021 11:35

I always preferred Nicola to Nicole when younger, but I think both are very dated now.
Lorna is one of my least favourite names. I have a friend named Lorna and even though she is lovely, I still really dislike it.
I think of beer when I hear Stella.
If I was choosing out of those three I would choose Nicole.
Sienna or Sadie?

SardineJam · 08/01/2021 09:55

Nicole is amazing, but then I have a son named Nicholas so I am biased!

SnoozyLou · 08/01/2021 09:55

I prefer Nicole.

Edenember · 08/01/2021 09:48

Of the 3 I prefer Stella. Nicole feels a little dated to me and a name used by people trying to sound chic which has actually ended up sounding quite common. Lorna is pretty too, not my cup of tea but it’s a name everyone knows how to say and spell without ever being super popular or overused. I also concur with the Lorna Doone association and find in quite romantic in a slightly wild windswept Scottish way. Nice.

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 08/01/2021 09:45

They have a similar vibe to Kelly, Vicky, etc

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 08/01/2021 09:43

nicole - slapper

😱😱😱
That’s an unpleasant response, plus I know a lovely Nichole who would be genuinely hurt by that comment.

I do agree that they are 80’s names, a bit like Barry and Kevin for a boy.

Stella is the only one I could get on board with.

Bluesername · 08/01/2021 09:35

Saffron, Louisa, Naomi, Elspeth?
