Vinnie for a girl

So me and my partner both absolutely love the name Vinnie. Originally we were both dead cert if we was having a boy we would call them vincent. But when we found out we were having a girl we settled on the name emma but neither of us was really that in love with it. A month or so ago my other half turned round and said what about Vinnie for a girl. We both agreed we liked it so much more than Emma but I can't decide whether to just go for it and call her Vinnie or whether to give her a more 'formal' name on her birth cert.
I've been trawling the net, neither of us like lavinia, lavina, lovina, alvina, elvina, davina. I quite like vivenne but he doesn't.

Any other suggestions and thoughts on Vinnie in its own right welcome 😊

Emma is very safe, neither of us loved it but it was the only name we agreed on. I've seen it everywhere since and now I've gone right off it.

Valid point. I discounted the name Orla despite really loving it as its too close to the world oral and boys in particular are cruel in secondary school.

Purely for the fact that I wouldn't want to give her a name her dad really dislikes. I was brought up using my dads surname but have my mother's on my birth cert. I have to use my mums surname for all mt banking and work even though i was educated and raised with my dads. So she will inevitably have to use vivenne if its on her birth cert

I don't think Vina is pretty at all. It's also one of those names which cruel kids will tease about "Vina Vagina" sort of thing.

People won't know how to say it....'Veena" or "Vyna". It's hard to guess.

If you would never use the name Vivienne what does it matter if your husband does not like it? Register her as Vivienne but make it known she is to be called Vinnie. It literally makes no difference to his life but makes a massive difference to your daughters, it gives her choice of what she is called and how she chooses to address herself in later life.

I have not seen Vina. Thats such a pretty name.
My nana is also Veronica although she's always gone by Vee as her nickname. Didn't even occur to me Vinnie could be associated with it.

I am a sucker for traditionally masculine names being used for baby girls, ie; Frankie, Billie, Peta, James, Wren & Hunter. So, I am in love with Vinnie for a girl!
I think, if both you and your partner love Vinnie as is, you should just go with it!
But, if you are looking for a longer name you could go with Veronica (my nana's name is Veronica and Vinnie was a nickname of hers as a girl), Lavinia (one of my all time name crushes!), Lavindar (I have seen it spelt like this) Vina, Bevin/Bevinne, Devin, Edvina, Fevin, Glorvina, Havin, Irvinna, Jovina, Mavin, Mavis, Silvinia & Virginia xx

This is baby number 3. Fairly sure she will be the last.
Baby will have very irish middle names and surname so looking for something more blunt to balance it out. I already have a Fred and a Faye and avoiding all F names at all costs after double initialling the first two unintentionally.
I also like names that can't be played with since people have always automatically shortened my name and I really dislike it 🙈

I love the name Vinnie but she will be assumed to be male on any paperwork she fills in.

I have the male spelling of a name which is meant to be for both sexes and people always think I'm a man due to my line of work.

It's not a problem really though...in fact I've often considered it a blessing.

Be prepared to have a lot of Confused faces though when you tell people her name.

Also, there are a LOT of lovely names for girls out there. Rather than trying to make the male name you like fit a girl, why not save it in case you have a boy?

Stop looking at V names maybe? Look at some of the lovely Welsh names? Arwen? Or Bronwen or similar.
