I absolutely love the name Sienna, DH likes it but doesn't totally love it. Looking for similar suggestions, nothing too flouncy or prissy sounding but still feminine at the same time. Bonus if it sounds slightly/fairly Indian as baby will be mixed race but happy to get some 'out there' suggestions that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

Thank you 😊

I just couldn’t imagine using the full name and my husband and I couldn’t decide on a NN. I liked Sephy and he liked Fina. I felt that the name would make people do a double-take since it’s so unusual! And having a middle name as well would make the name look super long. The other thing was we aren’t Christian but it’s quite a Christian name. Seraphina’s meaning is based on the seraphim who are like ‘super’ angels burning with fire. Haha I thought it was a lot to live up to!!
Anyway, we called our baby Iona in the end (we both liked it).
It was HARD finding a name though. It just seems SO important doesn’t it!!

@Peridotty

I was gonna call my baby Seraphina! Everyone here was really supportive of the name. However last minute I chickened out Blush I thought it was beautiful but also ‘unusable’ in real life.
Aw that's a shame! I get what you mean though, wouldn't say unusable but yeah I can't find the right word lol. Did you call her something similar to Seraphina instead?

Siena is nicer with only one n, like the city, IMO.

Saffron has similar vibe but less fussy and a bit of an Indian link.

whitechocolatehobnobs · 08/01/2021 12:37

Oooh no it's not precocious at all! Seraphina is a beautiful name! 💖

Luckyelephant1 · 08/01/2021 12:01

I would go for Sienna OP! Is there a nickname for Sienna that your husband likes? I think that it’s good enough if one of you loves it and one of you likes it. It’s hard to find a name that you both love.
Haha I am definitely working on it still! Haven't really thought of nicknames tbh.

Seraphina (from another pp) is lovely although I worry it sounds a bit precocious?

@YoniAndGuy

Sorry - really dislike Sienna, it feels a bit outdated and not very classic at all.

The nearest I could get would be something like Xanthe - it has the same shape, it's unusual but just in a different league to something like Sienna.

Lol each to their own but thanks for the suggestion! I think all names will sound outdated at some stage tbh so I'm not too fussed about that.

Oh I love Sienna. Weirdly it was never on my radar of names I liked but this time DH suggested it and was really keen to use it. After thinking it over I realised I quite liked it actually. I also like how the letters look -weird perhaps but 🤷‍♀️. I would rather use the city spelling Siena, but I don't like the look of it as much, and being named after an earthy colour is still nice I think. I've even absentmindedly started calling baby Sienna so I imagine we will be using it 🥰 Good Luck!

What about Azura, Aurelia, Viola or Xanthe - all colour themed like Sienna but less popular/trendy? Or Cassia? (like the spice)
