Emily or Alice?

Any thoughts on either of these? Middle name would be Freda. And before the boards say they're both too popular, I don't give a fig about that 😊

Also love Charlotte but it doesn't go with our surname.

Hmm I'm all confused now! Was leaning towards Emily but now towards Alice!

I hadn't considered an a Emily being surrounded by 50 and 60 year old Emilys when she enters the workplace...

Any other suggestions at all?

In my DS' class/ year of about 50 kids in elementary school there were seven of them, though one spelled her name Emilie. He is 27 now.

Emily isn't fusty but it was enormously popular at the turn of the century and there are a lot of twenty-something Emilys around, so an Emily born today will encounter a lot of her namesakes when she enters the workplace. I was given a 60s/70s name in the early 80s and this has very much been my experience.

Given that it's the 11th most popular name in England and Wales, I'd say that it wasn't fusty.

Alice! We have an Alice and it's lovely. Really suits her and she loves it. Not many of them around either 🥰

This is so lovely to hear. Alice is my favourite name for my baby girl but I am worried if she will like it. It's reassuring to hear that she loves her name Smile

I like them both a lot, but I think Emily flows best with Freda.

I like Freda more than either of them, but Alice is a close second.

Emily is fusty.

I think Alice Elfreda flows better than Alice Freda but Alice Freda is fine.

Emily Freda sounds better than Alice Freda I think.

Definitely Alice for me - it's the most timeless and avoids the current trends for y/ie ending names and all the Ellie/ Millie/ Lily sounds that classic Emily gets lost in at the moment.

Freda is very lovely though!
