Emily or Alice?

Any thoughts on either of these? Middle name would be Freda. And before the boards say they're both too popular, I don't give a fig about that 😊

Also love Charlotte but it doesn't go with our surname.

@Mally2020

Said this so many times but not alice, always reminds me of the who the f* is alice song love emily tho
And to me, it's the children's counting song - Alice the camel has 4 humps... Emily Freda is lovely
woodhill · 05/01/2021 17:35

It's still a lovely name

busybee87 · 05/01/2021 07:10

Hmm I'm all confused now! Was leaning towards Emily but now towards Alice!

I hadn't considered an a Emily being surrounded by 50 and 60 year old Emilys when she enters the workplace...

Any other suggestions at all?

'He' refers to DS, not Emilie Smile

mathanxiety · 05/01/2021 05:01

...there are a lot of twenty-something Emilys around...

In my DS' class/ year of about 50 kids in elementary school there were seven of them, though one spelled her name Emilie. He is 27 now.

Alice

NotAnotherHelen · 04/01/2021 08:14

Emily isn't fusty but it was enormously popular at the turn of the century and there are a lot of twenty-something Emilys around, so an Emily born today will encounter a lot of her namesakes when she enters the workplace. I was given a 60s/70s name in the early 80s and this has very much been my experience.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/01/2021 07:37

@busybee87

Is Emily really fusty?
Given that it's the 11th most popular name in England and Wales, I'd say that it wasn't fusty.

Alice! We have an Alice and it's lovely. Really suits her and she loves it. Not many of them around either 🥰

emmie841 · 03/01/2021 22:37

@xbambi

Alice

I was allowed to name my sister when she was born 20 years ago and that’s what I picked. She really loves her name and it’s suited her at every stage in her life. I sort of wish I saved it for my daughter!

This is so lovely to hear. Alice is my favourite name for my baby girl but I am worried if she will like it. It's reassuring to hear that she loves her name Smile

I like them both a lot, but I think Emily flows best with Freda.

MercyBodle · 03/01/2021 22:19

I like both Emily and Alice, but would choose Alice.

mathanxiety · 03/01/2021 20:48

I like Freda more than either of them, but Alice is a close second.

Emily is fusty.

I think Alice Elfreda flows better than Alice Freda but Alice Freda is fine.

busybee87 · 03/01/2021 20:43

Thanks all. Freda is after a family member who we lost so that's staying. Will have a ponder but thanks for your opinions!

I love both Emily and Alice but don't like Freda.

Emily Freda sounds better than Alice Freda I think.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 03/01/2021 19:07

Definitely Alice for me - it's the most timeless and avoids the current trends for y/ie ending names and all the Ellie/ Millie/ Lily sounds that classic Emily gets lost in at the moment.

Freda is very lovely though!

MajesticWhine · 03/01/2021 18:36

I prefer Emily

Chilldonaldchill · 03/01/2021 18:11

I like both.

Newnamefor2021 · 03/01/2021 15:02

Love both!

Alice #25
Freda #1854

Both lovely names, but Alice.
