Jasper or Ralph

What do you think of Jasper and Ralph?

And if you like these, what other names do you like?

I also like Rory but it doesn’t sound right with our surname.

Yes. We do use Ralphie, but we often call
him Ralph for short. It wasn't a conscious thing, just a natural shortening I guess. Some of his friends call him it too.

Thank you for your comments. Jasper seems to be most people’s preference. Ralph was my favourite of the two, but I guess not everyone likes the same things.

Any more name suggestions would still be appreciated though... still got the middle name to think of too!

My DS is called Ralphie, without realising we actually call him Ralph far more than Ralphie.

I really liked Jasper too but my husband wasn't as keen.

Ooh both of these were on our boys list with my preference being Jasper but OH didn’t like it. I also had Sebastian, Jude and Felix and we have decided if DC2 is a boy he will be named Felix. I also LOVE Roscoe but again OH didn’t so it never even made our list!! You have good taste and I’m sure you will find a name 💙

I love the name Ralph but my OH said no straight away said it reminds him of the stupid kid in the Simpsons but I think it's super cute

Ralph will always remind me of the name of the boyfriends penis in Forever by Judy Bloom Grin

Jasper us so much nicer anyway than Ralph even with the penis connotations !

I love Rory! That's a shame re surname.

Don't like Jasper much and really dislike Ralph - they both sound v wet to me. Rafe pronunciation is nice though, but think you have to spell it like that.

Like the Rufus suggestion - also Milo, Miles, Hugo, Hugh, Thomas, Lawrence, Silas, Jacob, Joseph, Reuben, Marcus, Guy...

Jasper definitely of the two. I really dislike Ralph - it makes me think of the US slang for vomiting. I love pp suggestion of Rufus though.

I’m not so keen on Jasper. I like Rafe - pronounced and written that way. Ralph could grow on me.

Just my sixpence worth. I always think Rafe is odd. People assume it is Ralph but pronounced Rafe. As for Jasper? Oh Sir Jasper!! Do not touch me! (google it).

How's about a mix of the two? Rasper? It is growing on me already.

I was wondering when Judy Blume would come up. Luckily I haven’t read it, so doesn’t put me off.

@ZoyaTheDestroyer Ralph would be pronounced ‘Ralf’.

Jasper makes me think of Jasper Carrot which I know is irrelevant to those born today but it personally puts me off they name.
