Girls names beginning with L

Hi all,

Wondered if I could get some opinions on these girls names begining with L. Or had any suggestions we might not have thought of.
The middle name will be Iris as it is a family name.
Surname begins with a V and is 4 syllables.

The names on the list are:
Lotta, Livia, Lydia, Louisa, Lena

I quite like Laurie, Libby and Lissy but I think they might be too nicknamey?

Opinions? Ideas?
Happy new year all!

I like Lydia!
Also I knew a lovely Lisette when I was a child, so have always liked the name.

If you like Ludmila, what about Ludovica? Or Ludivine?

ghislaine · 01/01/2021 23:33

I wouldn’t use the names on your B list as they are all nicknames. I like Livia and Lydia best of your A list.

Other names I don’t think have been mentioned yet are:

Linden
Lavinia
Laverne
Lavender
Laurette
Luella/Louella
Lucretia/Lucretia

I have a friend Laurie but it’s pronounced Law-rie not lor-rie as it often is. I really like it, it can also be spelt Lori

If DH like Lilith how about Lily, although Lily Iris might be a bit too flowery

I have a Livia and love it. It's actually a name in its own right dating from Ancient Rome.

WhoLettheCatOut · 01/01/2021 22:30

I know a Livia which is the Italian form of the name not shortened. I like it but many people assume short for Olivia 🙄

Thanks for all your feedback. There are some great ideas! I love that the initials will spell Liv as I think it is almost like a second name option.

I like Lois but DP can't get past the superman connection.

Ludmilla is an interesting one. I really like the name Mila, but think it might be a little clunky.

Not a huge fan of Lauren or Liberty.

Lena, Louisa and Lotta aren't as popular here but DP is German and they are both fairly high in popularity over there. The Livia/Olivia popularity thing does worry me a bit. Feel like it's a boring choice to pick the name that everyone else is picking... But I really like them!

How about Lelia?

Wornout12108 · 01/01/2021 22:01

Liesel, loved that name ever since I watched the sound of music 30 odd years ago.

Msfoxy17 · 01/01/2021 21:56

Sorry,double tt not it's..

Msfoxy17 · 01/01/2021 21:55

When I say the suggest names alongside Iris, I think Lotta jars a little- think it's the combination of the double 'it's then 'a' then 'I'. The others work better for me.
Like others, I think Livia Iris V is cool with the initials being LIV. However Olivia is very popular right now (top of list maybe?) so you may want to factor that in - as there will be lots of Livs and Livvys around..
