What would be your choice ?Girls Names

Hi all , it’s still very early days but we are trying to be organised. We are finding girls names much easier than boys !
We like for a girl :
Luna Esmae
Esmae Sienna
Middle names I am happy to switch / change ! But it will be Luna or Esmae. Am a little concerned with the popularity of Esmae now.

For a boy I love Teddy ! However OH doesn’t seem to like any names I suggest but would be happy for me to have Teddy . I just want him to equally love the name we choose ! Open to boy name suggestions .

Esme is the nicest

MinnieJackson · 01/01/2021 18:42

I really like Luna out of the two. Have three Esmaes in our little.primary school.
For boys Teddys cute. Or Milo, Otis, Roman?

Oneandabean · 01/01/2021 18:21

If popularity is an issue you may need to rethink all your options. Both Luna and esme are very popular right now and teddy is so popular for a boy. I’m gutted as I loved Edward nn teddy for years but now several people who have recently had Edward/Theodore/Theo/teddy’s
I don’t know any pets named Luna but do know 2 girls and 4 esmes.

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 01/01/2021 17:57

I do know a lot of dogs called Luna and there is the lunatic association which isn’t nice. I know a Lyra which I prefer.

I love Esme though which I gave heard pronounced ez-may (Esmé) or Es-mee. In French it would be pronounced Ez-may with the accent on the final e. Sense looks misspelt to me but it could be a legitimate variation. I think she would have her name misspelt a lot though.

Teddy for Edward or Theodore? Theo is also lovely?

Jobsharenightmare · 01/01/2021 17:52

Esme is a Persian favourite in my Asian family. Very pretty and popular for its meaning.

partyatthepalace · 01/01/2021 17:49

Eloise also nice - or Elowen, Estella, Esther, Eliza. Essie is a nice nn for Estella, Esther or Elizabeth... If you want something a bit less popular than Esme that is.

partyatthepalace · 01/01/2021 17:42

I like Esme and Isaac.

(Esme with normal spelling like this)

Arlo is fine. Don’t mind Freddie and Teddy, but prefer as nn for Frederick/Alfred, Edward/Theodore

Really dislike Luna (just too close to Looney - sorry!)

Pantheon · 01/01/2021 17:29

I like Luna Esme
Theodore could be shortened to Teddy

Happenchance · 01/01/2021 17:27
@htbzllhcR OH likes Theo ! He mentioned that today funnily enough ! I’m not a massive fan purely because the nursery I work in seems to have lots ! But I’ve never thought of that as an alternative to Teddy so that is very wise thinking 🥰

I love Luna Sienna . It’s a shame a couple of people said it sounds like an animal name as I wouldn’t have thought of that personally !
Luna Sienna sounds like Lunacy-enna if said quickly.

According to County Living, Luna was the fourth most popular dog's name in 2020 and the most popular cat's name: www.countryliving.com/uk/wildlife/pets/news/a1436/most-popular-pet-name-uk-revealed/

NeonSparkle · 01/01/2021 17:27

Luna sienna
I hate esme personally

Yep.
Loads of dogs called Luna!
And I'd spell Esmae the traditional way. Way more classy to be Esme, tho I appreciate there's a difference in pronunciation which you may be trying for

htbzllhcR · 01/01/2021 17:17

Theodore or Theo is nice for a boy? He could still be affectionately called Teddy by you? What does hubby think of that?

I think that Luna Sienna sounds like the best combo of your 3 girls names

Hunt123 · 01/01/2021 17:03

@Lotsalotsagiggles I absolutely love that ... that is a gorgeous suggestion !!
@Mammyloveswine Elsie is another classic favourite off mine ! Esme and Elsie would be great Twinnies names !! OH is not a fan off Elsie though !

Mammyloveswine · 01/01/2021 16:35

Love Esme! Also love Elodie and Elsie and Clara!

Lotsalotsagiggles · 01/01/2021 16:26

Arlo Edward is a lovely boys name?

Hunt123 · 01/01/2021 16:25

@GinAndTonicOnIt OH prefers Esme as oppose to Luna ! Surname begins with an “E” as well so it’s got a very nice flow to it !

OP posts:
GinAndTonicOnIt · 01/01/2021 16:05

I prefer Esme Sienna or Sienna Esme

Hunt123 · 01/01/2021 15:48

@babycakes1010 @HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee @ThirdTimeLuckyIHope- I love Sienna Esme ! Will suggest that to OH thank you x

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 01/01/2021 15:45

I like Sienna Esmae

Happenchance · 01/01/2021 15:42

Names with a similar sound to Esmae/Esme but are less popular: Jessamy, Romy and Tesni

For boys, the first names that came to mind when I saw your list were: Elias, Jago and Sonny

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 01/01/2021 15:41

Mmm, actually yes, Sienna Esme is better

babycakes1010 · 01/01/2021 15:40

Sienna Esme sounds better

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 01/01/2021 15:34

Esme sienna, yea that works

Hunt123 · 01/01/2021 15:32

@littlemisslozza thank you ! I just can’t wait to find out the sex so we can really knuckle down and find a boys name or pick Esme or Luna as our girls name !
