Being induced shortly and still don't have a name or middle name picked out!! Need some help!!

We like unisex or not too girly names and ideally not too popular. Possibly with a Welsh link, but we live in england, so needs to be very easily pronounced (not too Welsh!). Will also be double barrelled surname, so nothing too long.

I like
Romy
Maddie
Kit
Maggie

Partner likes
Holly
Fern
Joany
Maya
Robyn

Some of these names are already taken by friends / family, but putting them in as they're names we like. We like each other's choices but don't love them 😬 starting to feel the pressure! Suggestions please!!

I love Rhian, definitely Welsh but easy to pronounce and not too flowery or girly imo

Leo674 · 05/01/2021 11:39

What about Morgan? I love it for a girl as I also like a welsh link, but my partner is convinced it's a boys name so we might have to compromise and use it as a middle name. Siân is also a nice welsh name that is easily pronounced in England, it's my middle name and I live in England and have never had any trouble!

I always think that generally names that end in a consonant or that have strong consonant sounds in them have a strong feel. So (with max 3 syllables as you have a long surname, apologies for repeats): Isolde, Emmeline, Eleanor, Madeleine, Adeline, Matilda, Greta, Iris, Sybil, Imogen, Beatrice/Beatrix, Harriet, Tamsin, Charlotte, Caroline.

I have a Cerys with a double barrelled surname.

I love it for her. She's 2 now and it's growing with her well. We call her Ceecee for short.

I didn't want anything too girly either. I'm 6ft and she will likely be tall so felt a lot of 'girl' names wouldn't fit.

@CorianderBee do you think it works on its own? I'm worried it's too short and nick-namey!

Alys (Ah-liss)
Tesni (Tess-nee)
Mari (Marry, Welsh for Mary)
Eira (Ey-ra, ey as is hey and ra as in rabbit)
Elin (Elle-in)
Bethan (an as in Anne, not an as in un)
Megan (see above re: Meg-Anne, not Meg-un)
Catrin
Lois (pronounced Loyce in Welsh)
Mali (Malley, Welsh for Molly)
Cadi (Caddy)
Nansi (Nancy)

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 31/12/2020 15:00

@MarvEll my daughter is Tora. I wanted a strong name. Her name is Norwegian and is the female version of Tor (nordic God of Thunder). Most of the names are Norwegian/ Scandinavian and quite popular here but not too common. Good luck with the induction!
