Sister for Noah

OkyDoke · 27/12/2020 15:00

32 weeks down the line and still no closer to a name!

Big brother is Noah.

I like Thea, Iris, Lily, Freya, Evie, Elle.

DH likes Evelyn (but we pronounce it differently), Olivia.

Any suggestions please?

With a short, harsh sounding surname I think names with 2 or 3 syllables balances the sounds out - Francesca Hurst sounds more balanced than Frances Hurst for example. Out of your list I like Evelyn best. Other ideas:

Gabriella
Antonia
Isadora
Iona
Irena
Ileana
Imogen

I think Noah and Alice are lovely together x

htbzllhcR · 29/12/2020 12:22

I think Noah and Evie, or Noah and Lily.

Potentially Evelyn, how would you pronounce it?

I really think that Thea, Olivia and Freya aren't great choices as a sister for Noah just because of them all rhyming with Noah.

When I saw the title of the post, I immediately thought “Freya” and so from your list, I like Freya and Thea with either Iris or Lily as a potential middle name.

Isis? I think the negative association is fading now.

Eliza?

Olivia, Lily & Evie from your list go well with Noah.

I’d suggest another Biblical name:

Anna/Hannah
Sarah
Eve
Grace
Abigail
Isobel
Elizabeth

Evangeline. Doesn't have to be Evie (there seem to be a lot of those around here).
Out of your list I'd go for Iris or Thea.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 27/12/2020 21:41

All your choices work okay with Noah (similar levels of recent popularity). But of your list I like Evie or Lily best with Noah - same 2 syllable sound but a different ending (Thea or Freya are a nice fit in style, but maybe a bit too matchy in sound? ).

What about Sophie?

OkyDoke · 27/12/2020 21:08

Thanks all! Iris is my favourite but I'm not sure it goes with our surname which has is fairly short and harsh with an 'urst' sound. Need to think about Ivy, I love I names!

I have a Lydia to go with my Noah

I really like your list. Iris and Thea are my favourites. Lily is possibly a bit girly for me and Freya, Evie and Elle are all very popular, if that bothers you. Other suggestions:

I was coming on to say Olivia!

Of the others, I think Freya goes the best. Although I do know siblings names Elle and Noah. Evie too sounds as if it might go with Noah except that it is more nicknamey. Tbh, I don't think you can go wrong with any of your ideas.

I agree Iris is lovely and goes well with Noah. So does Thea

So many Evies around at the moment!

DalgonaToGo · 27/12/2020 15:32

Noah & Iris go beautifully together.

YukoandHiro · 27/12/2020 15:25

Could you call her Evelyn but use Evie for short?
