What do you guys think of the name Sami for a boy?

I personally love it, I once met a teenage guy named Sami (my nephew’s best mate) he was half English half Arabic, he was gorgeous and with such a kind soul, and since then I just love this name 😍 I said to my partner if one day we have a son I’d love him to be named Sami

How about Sammi?

@Starsuns

I think of the Sami people.
Me too. To me it would be the same thing as naming your child "French" or "Chinese". I didn't know that it was an established name.

Love Sami. Am a teacher who has taught a few boys with the name. No confusion with girls.

I know a Samia too. French of Algerian descent.

Butterfly93 · 26/12/2020 15:40

No but I’m half French and in France Sami is definitely a boys name, it’s Samia for girls :)

I know a few Samis. North African adult males.

I think there is a huge opportunity for mix ups. People will expect a woman if they see that name, it is a very feminine spelling.
Do you have Arabic connections in the family? It seems a little strange otherwise. Sammy, short for Samuel, is fine. He also could then be Sam if he prefers.

Cecily42 · 26/12/2020 15:34

I would made me think he was Sami.
