Alice or Felicity?

Just that really :)

With our baby girl due in a few weeks, we finally narrowed it down to these two names.

Love them both, they both go with our one syllable surname.

What’s your favourite? Can’t decide AT ALL!

I know a Felicity nicknamed Lissy!

winterbabythistime · 26/12/2020 10:00

Felicity is perfect with your surname actually

I went to school with a Felicity and her name was never shortened, even in secondary school

LilyRose89 · 25/12/2020 18:42

Thank you all and have a very merry Christmas !

Felicity

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 25/12/2020 08:55

Alice. But I’m biased!

Also if you don’t like nicknames that also gives a vote for Alice, mine has other names as nicknames but Alice has never been shortened.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 25/12/2020 08:42

Felicity Ross is a fabulous, classy sounding name.

I know some lovely Alices, but only one Felicity - and she's amazing.

HeadlessGummyBears · 25/12/2020 08:34

Felicity and Alice are both fab! I would definitely go with the option: Felicity Alice Ross.

HyperHippo · 24/12/2020 22:38

Felicity hands down.

Sandsnake · 24/12/2020 22:26

I prefer Alice, but Felicity Ross is an excellent name. Felicity Alice Ross would be grand.

LilyRose89 · 24/12/2020 22:22

@Ginfilledcats I like Fliss as a nickname!
And congrats, beautiful name :)

Please don't name her Felicity, that's my dd name and I'm a bit sad it's gotten so popular.

OBVIOUSLY IM NOT THAT PRECIOUS ABOUT IT lol. But it's a lovely, classic timeless name we've only had positive feedback on (but who would say oh that's awful to a new mum lol). She's Fliss to us!

ZednotZee · 24/12/2020 22:04

I dislike Alice, it just doesn't sound very nice to me.

However, don't give a child a long name if you can't bear the nicknames associated with it, madness lies that way.

So I think ,seeing as you like it you will be happier with Alice overall, despite Felicity being the far nicer name.

LilyRose89 · 24/12/2020 21:59

@moonlight1705 that’s a really good point! 😅

My DSis is called Felicity and she goes by Listy to me and my other sibling, Flick to most friends and Fliss to others.

So my vote is Felicity Alice although her initials would spell FAR. Grin

LilyRose89 · 24/12/2020 21:55

@IamnotwhouthinkIam that’s exactly it; I think Felicity works better with our surname and love the name itself but I wouldn’t be happy if she was called something else than Felicity all her life. Basically if my Felicity became a Flick all her life it would maybe make me regret the name a bit (like the full version, not a fan of nicknames).

@torthecatlady I was thinking, depending on the first name I choose:
Felicity Alice
Alice Felicity
Or Alice Esme
:)

Those are my top two favourite names. Felicity works well with your surname though. Is she having a middle name?

Anystarinthesky · 24/12/2020 20:38

I like Alice.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 24/12/2020 20:36

Felicity

BikeRunSki · 24/12/2020 20:28

I'm an Alice, have been for several decades .
I have never been called Ali. Al, but not Ali.
I am rather delighted that Alice is now popular enough that you can mugs/pens etc with it on!

Although I should be biased towards Alice, I think Felicity goes better with Ross.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 24/12/2020 20:21

I absolutely love Alice but agree that Felicity works much better with your surname.

zigaziga · 24/12/2020 20:18

Love both your names. Only ever known one Felicity and one Alice and they are both super Smile

Roselilly36 · 24/12/2020 20:03

Felicity is my favourite girls name. So naturally I prefer it to Alice.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/12/2020 19:59

Both are nice names, but I think Felicity works best with your surname, as well as being less popular (although Alice isn't bad). However as pp mentioned I wouldn't use Felicity unless you like the nicknames because four syllable names are often shortened (Alice is slightly less likely to be).

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 24/12/2020 13:35

Oh god the camel comment made me think of ....

Alice?
Alice?
Who the fuck is Alice?
