Pretty!

MercyBodle · 24/12/2020 02:15

It doesn't appeal to me. For those sort of sounds how about Arabella or Gabriella?

Spaghettibetty345 · 24/12/2020 00:55

Reminds me of areola

FartnissEverbeans · 24/12/2020 00:53

I think it’s a lovely name.

I like Ariel too.

ProudAuntie76 · 23/12/2020 23:27

I feel like Ariella would end up getting a hard time as a tween/teenager in Sex Ed.

Then have to relive it if she ever has to go to breastfeeding support or if she has any medical issues with her breasts, “ah yes Ariella, your right Areola is a bit inflamed and leaking quite an unhealthy looking discharge...”

It’s a bit like one of those names like Melina (Melena) that sounds pretty enough but means “blood in faeces”. Or the old Klamidya/Chlamydia anecdote.

alexdgr8 · 23/12/2020 23:09

sounds like something medical. not in a good way. sorry, no.

Aquamarine1029 · 23/12/2020 23:07

Nipples.

Firebird83 · 23/12/2020 23:06

I know two toddlers called Ariella. I quite like it.

@Backwithaquestion

For those of you saying Ariella is “frilly”, it means lioness of god in Hebrew. Awesome name.
Couldn't give a crap, still sounds frilly and fussy to me.

I'm an instant no to any Ella esque names anyway, they're overdone.

It’s irrelevant what it means in Hebrew. In English it appears weak and frilly. Too many vowels, too many syllables, and no hard consonants to give it oomph.

Awesome name.

JanewaysBun · 23/12/2020 20:56

Nice, quite popular

XmasBelle · 23/12/2020 20:56

I need to do some washing

Drogonssmile · 23/12/2020 20:55

Straight away it reminded me of the borrowers but that was Arrietty so ignore me.
I'm not sure I like that full name but I like the nicknames that could become of it

Arri
Ella
Ellie

Etc.

Buttercup54321 · 23/12/2020 20:49

Too fairytale and frilly for me.

MimiDaisy11 · 23/12/2020 20:43

I like it but prefer Arielle. There are lots of a ending names and it makes it sound just a bit too frilly for me.

Smellybluecheese · 23/12/2020 20:23

There’s one in my daughter’s class, along with 6 other girls starting and ending in A so those sorts of names are quite popular. It’s also the name of a wart medicine so I wouldn’t use it.

daisypond · 23/12/2020 20:23

I’m not keen. Too many soft sounds for me.

NameChange84 · 23/12/2020 20:15

Sorry, it makes me think of nipples. Areola.

frogswimming · 23/12/2020 20:13

I like it. Unusual but normal and pretty.

CayrolBaaaskin · 23/12/2020 20:02

I like it - it’s Hebrew so has strong Jewish connotations.

LampHat · 23/12/2020 19:57

Yeah. Areola, sorry Sad

LittleBearPad · 23/12/2020 19:56

It’s a bit frilly?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/12/2020 19:54

I much prefer the similar Aurelia, Arabella or even Ariana - they feel more classic, but Ariella isn't horrible.

M0rT · 23/12/2020 19:24

I like it but mainly because I love Arietty and it sounds a bit like that.
