I like Sunday or Aurora. Meadow is OK but a bit wet.

Munroe - I think you have to be Scottish or it's odd, unless a family name I guess. Also sounds a bit more like a boys name to me.

Capri is a stripper name , Story sounds like something someone would adopt in addiction recovery.

GraceArcher · 22/12/2020 19:01

Story - no
Monroe - too closely associated with Marilyn
Aurora - too princessy and popular on here
Capri - is your surname Ford?
Sunday - ok
Meadow - not hideous
Navy - In the Navy.

Depends on your surname. Sunday Best would be too jokey.

Nell96 · 21/12/2020 15:29

I like unusual names. I've never met anyone with my name - it's from a play by Shakespeare and I get lots of compliments on it. So, I do understand the appeal of choosing a name which is a bit more 'out there', however I'm not that keen on any of your choices -

Story - bit silly, also means level / floor
Monroe - hard for a little girl to live up to
Aurora - don't know any, find it a bit frilly and it's a bit of a mouthful
Capri - sun
Sunday - dislike days of the week used as names
Meadow - ok, reminds me of the Sopranos and I feel like there are nature names which are much nicer
Navy - nope - military associations

CeibaTree · 21/12/2020 15:29

How about Aurelia instead of Aurora - it's a bit less Disney princess? But out of your list Meadow is the only name I vaguely like.

Although I can imagine a toddler being called any of the names on your list, I don't really think they would really suit an adult woman.

Do you have an unusual name yourself OP? Everyone I know who has an unusual name has called their children names from the top 50 as they haven't wanted their children to be saddled with a quirky name as they know what that's like themselves!

abbie777 · 21/12/2020 15:08

I don’t know any Aurora’s of that helps.
I love Capri and had it on my list
Monroe is okay but I don’t really like unisex names
Like Sunday but couldn’t see it on my child
I like story too

abbie777 · 21/12/2020 15:06

What area are you in?

Firebird83 · 21/12/2020 10:11

Don’t like any of them, but Aurora is probably the best option.

Namechangedforthethousandthtim · 21/12/2020 09:44

I like them all except Capri which for some reason reminds me of a 90s playboy bunny

FelicityPike · 21/12/2020 09:09

I know (of) 5 Aurora’s under 6 years old.
I don’t like it.
I don’t like Story. Monroe isn’t bad.
I know a wee boy Navy.

peboh · 21/12/2020 09:04

I love Aurora and Sunday, not a big fan of the others.

PlantPotting · 21/12/2020 09:03

Love Aurora

mathanxiety · 21/12/2020 06:13

I don't think the names are too bad, except for Capri. It would lend itself to nicknames that would be annoying.

FallingStar21 · 21/12/2020 05:03

Monroe makes me think immediately of Marilyn Monroe, so would expect her looks to match the name.

Capri = capri trousers
Aurora = city in Texas and Disney character (well better than Tinkerbell I suppose).

LadyLazaruss · 21/12/2020 04:12

@Awwlookatmybabyspider

Why is it on here. If your kids aren't called something along the lines of Ava Olivia.Lily Ella. Noah Oliver Arthur Theo. Someone always pipes up with "Are you being serious"
Haha this.

Don't bother, OP. If it's not in the top 50 UK names, you'll be ripped apart.

I like them all. Favourite is Monroe.

bettybeans · 21/12/2020 04:02

Sunday and Story are interesting.
Monroe is a lovely sound but freaks me out a bit because Marilyn is the obvious connection and that's quite highly sexualised. Maybe Munroe or Munro would keep the name but escape the whole name association thing?

Aurora is the nicest. The others are weird. Capri makes me think of Capri sun.

MercyBodle · 21/12/2020 03:26

I like Sunday, Meadow and Capri. Aurora is fine, just not really my taste.
I don't mind Story or Monroe as middle names.

charlottebella · 21/12/2020 03:23

No I really do like them all, i think I’m not going to worry about popularity and just go with what I love🙃.

The problem with assuming you have to go way off piste when choosing a name is that you may well find your child ends up in Reception with the only other child bearing that name in the UK. Equally, you might find your Olivia is the only one in the school.

Do you honestly like any of the names on your list? Or are you just listing names you believe will be one-of-a-kind for the sake of that?

Blacktothepink · 21/12/2020 03:03

I like Tuesday and Autumn

charlottebella · 21/12/2020 03:00

Do you know many Aurora’s? It’s going down in popularity according to this years stats so I’m not that concerned. I just don’t want there to be like 5 people in her school with her name.

OP posts:
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/12/2020 02:35

Aurora is a fairly popular name - lovely, if slightly Disney princess. I can see the attraction of Story and Meadow, although I'd personally only use them in the midde name spot. Not keen on Monroe or Sunday and I really dislike the sound of Capri for some reason (I also think of Capri pants rather than the place, so it seems odd as a name to me).

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 21/12/2020 01:22

TheBeesKnee · 21/12/2020 01:22

They are all very individual names. I think you should go and meet people and introduce yourself as one of those names, see how that goes.
