Based on sound alone, which do you prefer? Thank you!

Lily is really popular but I don't like the sound Laura. Don't know why, never liked it as a name.

xmasfairybuns · 21/12/2020 04:41

Laura

LassFromLeedsWithALustForLife · 21/12/2020 04:36

What about Laur ie ? For my money it’s got the sound of Lily but the timelessness/bringing it backnesss of Laura but is also a bit edgier.

LadyLazaruss · 21/12/2020 04:15

Neither.

Anna is better by miles.

MercyBodle · 21/12/2020 03:40

Laura

Laura

wishfull888 · 20/12/2020 21:01

Charlotte or Annie, both gorgeous

Nell96 · 20/12/2020 20:41

Lily. Laura sounds very dull to me. I prefer Lorna, Laurel and Lila / Lyla.

BastardAnts · 20/12/2020 20:34

DanaScully Hindi for Penis is ‘Ling’ apparently, so don’t think that’s too close to either of these.
I like the sounds of both, though prefer Orla which sounds a bit like Laura.
Lily looks pretty written down and it sounds nice. It is very popular but with good reason.

jumperweather · 20/12/2020 20:28

I have a Laura who's 20months! So I'm biased!

I've only ever met really nice Laura's x

akerman · 20/12/2020 20:16

But yes, I prefer Anna. I love the name Anna.

PussyMalanga · 20/12/2020 20:16

Laura is a gorgeous name.

akerman · 20/12/2020 20:16

Laura. And all the Laura’s I’ve known have been lovely!

YoniAndGuy · 20/12/2020 20:14

Oh Anna beats all of them.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/12/2020 20:01

Laura would be my choice of the two. Laura feels slightly more classic to me (despite it's popularity in the 70/80's). Lily is very pretty, but just so commonplace currently.

firesong · 20/12/2020 19:40

Lily. I've never liked Laura much!

danascully96 · 20/12/2020 19:26

I love both a lot ❤️ The Lauras I’ve known have all been nice and successful, so I don’t have any negative associations.

Laura - strong, quietly mystical (with the word “aura”), and classic. Apparently Laura is close to the word for “penis” in Hindi, so that does worry me a bit, but it’s not an exact match Blush Also, I hope Laurie isn’t a possible nn! Shock

Lily - summery, lilting, and a modern vintage. The many spellings of Lily (Lilly, Lily-Mae, etc.) may be annoying, though.

My top list:
Laura
Julia
Charlotte
Lily
Anna (nn “Annie”)

My username is based off Dana Scully and I think Lily would be odd on her character, so it may not be the most adaptable name in the world Grin Still, it’s a happy name and Lily shows up in a lot of my fav books!

My SIL is the nicest person in the world and she’s called Laura.

It’s a classic and beautiful so gets my vote.

DramaAlpaca · 20/12/2020 19:23

I like both a lot.

Based on which I'd have used if I'd had a daughter, I'd pick Laura.

RoseMartha · 20/12/2020 19:23

Laura

Kanaloa · 20/12/2020 19:22

I like Laura. Lily is ok. I really love Lara & Laurel which are similar if you are looking for any suggestions.

Tavannach · 20/12/2020 19:22

Laura. Or Lorna.

thebearschairs · 20/12/2020 19:21

I'd go Lauren

Neither of the other two

YoniAndGuy · 20/12/2020 19:20

Hard choice, both extremely dull.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/12/2020 19:18

Laura
