Yay or nay?

My DH really likes it and I’m a bit indifferent. I don’t dislike it but it’s probably not my favourite.

I think it depends on the surname. I thought of Morven Christie and if your daughter turns out to be as good in her chosen profession when an adult, you'll be proud parents.

Like it

Highfalutinlootin · 17/12/2020 02:44

I think it's dreadful and brings to mind images of dead things due to the "mor" prefix. I knew a girl in school with this name, and everyone always gave her funny looks meeting her for the first time. I know it doesn't come from Latin, but many English words do, and the death association is what people will hear.

laurielo · 17/12/2020 02:13

Nope, hate it

Ohdeariedear · 16/12/2020 12:37

Love it (but this may be because I know someone called than and she’s lovely!)

It was on my shortlist for DD but ultimately it just didn’t work with our surname so it had to go.

Lucked · 16/12/2020 12:34

I am Scottish and have known a few Morvens but I don’t really like it.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 16/12/2020 12:32

I can’t head/see the name Tallulah without hearing that high pitched caterwauling ‘my name is Tallulah, I live ‘til I die...’

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 16/12/2020 12:30

🤦‍♀️

pollywollydoodler · 16/12/2020 11:22

Brian Ferry song...
Morven this,
You know there's nothing, Morven this..🎵

I think it’s off the list 😂 naming a person is really hard!

It really is so hard! It's amazing how, as a teen, I had a list of baby names and I wasn't even remotely interested in having a baby. Fast-forward to adulthood and pregnancy and suddenly the list was no longer valid, to say the least! Our firstborn didn't have a name for a month. Oh! But the doozies we did come up with! When I look back and think about what we considered calling him... Grin He's lucky he got away with a decent name after all of the crazy ones we considered. So glad we didn't go with Bo... not even Beau, just Bo.

I still love the name Tallulah. Never used it. But I still stand by my love for that name. Smile

Also makes me think of witches, very hard sounding name. What about Lorna?

Megan2018 · 16/12/2020 10:44

It makes me think of witches, not keen!

I love Merryn

tomatobuster · 16/12/2020 10:44

Ok, fine, strong name.

YoniAndGuy · 16/12/2020 10:39

I know a Scottish Morwenna... perhaps a good option?

Merryn also lovely.

diddlediddle · 16/12/2020 09:15

I find it a bit unpleasant looking/sounding for some reason. A bit harsh.

Morwena I don't mind though.

PlantPotting · 16/12/2020 09:00

Never heard it before

MercyBodle · 16/12/2020 02:29

I really like it.

Chilldonaldchill · 15/12/2020 21:31

I kept trying to work out why I didn't like it and realised it reminded me of Morfin (Tom Riddle's uncle in Harry Potter).

HollyBen · 15/12/2020 21:13

I am not keen on it. I know 2 Morven's and they are both quite dull Blush

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/12/2020 21:08

@Sexnotgender, I think Morven's very nice - especially if you're Scottish. There's an actress called Morven Christie (who's done a lot recently on the BBC and ITV), so it's not a completely unknown name outside Scotland!

SabrinaThwaite · 15/12/2020 18:09

I know a couple of young Morvens - it’s also a well known hill (at least locally) near Ballater.

sounds like a contraceptive pill

bridgetreilly · 15/12/2020 15:36

I know one and I really like it. Nothing Lord of the Rings about it, imo, starting with it not being made up.
