Just seen it mentioned on here in passing and it struck me as beautiful.

What are your thoughts on Muriel?

I like it. It’s a Gaelic name, from the word muir, which means sea. So don’t change the spelling, or you’d leave that meaning.

I don't like it. It just seems a very "elderly" (sorry) name to me.

Others might disagree though and if you like it then go for it. It certainly isn't actually amongst the worst name suggestions I have ever seen and isn't particularly "off the wall." I just don't like it.

She'll change it to 'Mariel' in future, but then back to Muriel when she realises it's not working out....😁

It's a family name for me but not one I'd use. Meriel is very pretty.

Oh, no. There was one in Crossroads (sorry, I know ancient history) but it will always be linked to a dreary dim-witted woman, as I remember. It doesn't sound nice said out loud. Meriel is similar but sounds fresher.

It was my nan’s name but I don’t particularly like it. If I was to use it though I would spell it Murielle. I feel like it looks a lot prettier.
