Toltson - a name we are considering for firstborn son

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I was hoping to get feedback on a name I like for my firstborn. Obviously, this is vastly different from the names you typically see on these types of forums and I wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are.

I'm set on having something old-fashioned, perhaps borderline antiquated because these are the type of names I like. I think they are unique. This one I made up myself (which makes me like it even moreGrin) so I wanted to get opinions from others because I have been in deep thought about it for a while now.

This being my first born, I was thinking I may name the second-born Oltson (if its a boy)? So it would be Toltson & Oltson. This is just an idea though.

Let me know your thoughts! Smile

The tolt is the peculiarly smooth fifth gait of native Icelandic horses. It is absolutely hilarious in real life.

Bonus, if it's a girl, simply switch to Toltsdottir.

81Byerley · 11/12/2020 13:24

This is a joke, right?

timeisnotaline · 11/12/2020 13:03

Toltson? Sounds like doltson, as in son of dolt? Sounds about right.
On the off chance this isn’t a windup, how about Toseland, tolly for short.

unmarkedbythat · 11/12/2020 13:03

Apparently Töltsön means 'spend' in Hungarian.

And if you google Toltson, one of the first results is for a twitter account of that name with some very NSFW gay porn content.

Other than that, sounds good.

supersonicginandtonic · 11/12/2020 13:03

I know a family who have a Daya, Amaya, Taya and Soraya. Please don't do it. Let your children be individuals.

StillSmallVoice · 11/12/2020 13:00

Rhymes with 'dolt'

If you want something antiquated try Algernon

MatildaonaWaltzer · 11/12/2020 13:00

@ODFOx

Have you considered Balonz? Also unusual and a bit antiquated.
you beat me to it.

Balonz is so lovely.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 11/12/2020 12:58

@IsabelleSE19

Not too sure about those names, but how about Balonz?

The second child could be Alonz.

Alonz would be ideal for an only child...
InTheNightWeWillWish · 11/12/2020 12:58

This one I made up myself

Shock

Sorry, no to both Tolston and Olston individually. Double no to both.

jojomolo · 11/12/2020 12:58

It's an old Surrey name...

IsabelleSE19 · 11/12/2020 12:58

Dammit ODFox I was too slow!

Soubriquet · 11/12/2020 12:57

@Monkeypeas

Meant to say if you had a 3rd and she was a girl you could call her Notson

ODFOx · 11/12/2020 12:57

What if it's a girl?
Toltson and Toltsdotter like the Scandinavians?

Beamur · 11/12/2020 12:56

It's kinda cute, but I wouldn't. I think kids need a bit more of their own identity, 2nd children already have their sibling to live up to in many ways, at least give them their own name not a version of an older brothers.

ODFOx · 11/12/2020 12:55

Have you considered Balonz? Also unusual and a bit antiquated.

ApolloandDaphne · 11/12/2020 12:55

Lol. No.

Monkeypeas · 11/12/2020 12:55

JonHammIsMyJamm · 11/12/2020 12:55

I’m assuming child 3 will be Ltson

Child 4, Tson

Child 5, Son

and so on...

Monkeypeas · 11/12/2020 12:54

Go for it. If you have a 3rd you could Hal Tolston, Oltson and Notson

SoupDragon · 11/12/2020 12:54

🙄

Get a pair of cats instead.

ApocalypseNowt · 11/12/2020 12:53

It's a hard nope from me

wheresmymargharita · 11/12/2020 12:53
