Do you prefer my or husband's favourite name ?

DH asked me to post this thread lol , because we cannot decide and he is so sure his favs are just of better taste. We don't know the sex yet. He likes the names I like , and I like his. But "my" names just seem more beautiful. PLEASE DECIDE FOR US :

Levi or Daniel
Harper or Mary

Is it pronounced Levi as in the jeans or is it levy as in a fine? Neither are great to be honest.

As woman if neither wish to be called Mary or Harper.

Daniel is ok but it would be shortened to Danny and I’m not a fan of that either.

Good god don't call your child Levi ffs! I don't really like any of them. Daniel is the only one I would even consider.

I like the simplicity of Mary but would personally add a fancier middle name for balance.

As a PP said, it doesn’t have to be any of these names OP. If he doesn’t like your favourites and you don’t like his then you keep looking till you find something you both like.

So neither of you gets your favourite but maybe you both get your 4th or 5th favourite if that’s one you both like.

I think Harper will end up being a name like
Louise or Lauren and be associated with a certain time and sound dated in future.

Mary is terrible! Far too frumpy and old fashioned. But that kind of name seems to be what the majority of mumsnetters prefer.

I think Harper and Levi are awful. Mary is ok but quite dull and old-fashioned.
Daniel is lovely.

I had 4 Daniels in my class at school alone and Mary is just no.

I don't like Levi and Harper. Levi is a pair of designer jeans. Harper maybe a brand of booze or something like that.

I love the name Levi. Is it Paul Young who named one of his kids that, a girl though. Always thought it was so cool.

What about Leo instead of Levi ?
Harper is just awful. Cant tweak that!
Mary is refreshingly simple now after years of isabellas and amelias and olivias (all nice names)
But Mary is beatiful in its simplicity.

Also love joy, anna, beth in the same way.

Daniel is a lot nicer than Levi imo.
Not really keen on either girl's name but of the two I'd choose Harper.

Depends on how they sound with surname but I only like Daniel from that list and it's quite popular/common! There must be other names to consider.

Mary is already back, I know a few Marys.

Besides, it’s always better to be ahead of the curve with these things. Otherwise you’re lumbered with just another generic, of-the-era name.
