What would your choice be and why? From a long list i think it will be one of these 3. I like Annabel because it's versatile- nickname Bel maybe, me and DH have always liked Elsie and Matilda is another one i keep coming back to.

Annabel. Just Anna would be nicer though.

Burnthurst187 · 10/12/2020 17:57

Matilda for me, Tilly for short

Ellmau · 10/12/2020 17:51

Annabel

MissPinkCakeyBun · 10/12/2020 17:48

For me it's a case of Tilly, Bella or Ellie.... which shortening of the name do you like most as it's always ends up being shortened.
My daughter is a Jo it was a choice of 2 names but the logical shortening of both was Jo so we just picked one.

Have a think about how the sound with your last name and how the look written down in full and as initials. My family name is double-barrelled and we have some howlers of initials

Good luck they are all beautiful names

I like them all but particularly Elsie. Lovely old name that's regained favour recently.

Pantheon · 10/12/2020 17:39

Elsie

Carrotcakey · 10/12/2020 17:34

Annabel is the best out of those definitely! It has so much potential for good nicknames. A zillion little Elsies and Tillys around by me currently.

Divebar · 10/12/2020 17:32

Elsie.

bridgetreilly · 10/12/2020 17:30

I like them all. In order, I would choose:
Elsie (though would use Elizabeth or Elspeth and have Elsie as nn)
Annabel
Matilda

Oneandabean · 10/12/2020 17:17

Elsie definitely

abitnotfit · 10/12/2020 16:50

Not Elsie

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 10/12/2020 16:48

My favourite is Annabelle but my oh doesn't agree

isawthat · 10/12/2020 16:15

I really like Elsie

pilates · 10/12/2020 16:14

Matilda

Peachbubble · 10/12/2020 16:14

Annabel, with Matilda second. I'm not keen on Elsie.

Notahotelorabandb · 10/12/2020 16:10

I love Elsie. Matilda is too popular for me. Annabel is nice and like the fact nicknames can be Annie or Bella, Belle etc.

jellybellydancers · 10/12/2020 16:04

I like Matilda and Annabel. Not a fan of Elsie.

fluffyboxes · 10/12/2020 16:02

I have a Matilda but insist on the full name because I like it so much. I still love hearing it after 7 years.

LarkDescending · 10/12/2020 15:43

Annabel for me - lovely choice.

I don’t mind Matilda but am a bit “over” it now as we seem to know a million Tillys from teens downwards.

Elsie just isn’t my cup of tea.

Katgolde · 10/12/2020 15:12

I like Annabel, then Elsie with Elspeth as full name.

I think we may have reached Peak Matilda already. A few years ago there seemed to be lots of Tillys.

Bruce2 · 10/12/2020 15:07

Annabel

KittenCalledBob · 10/12/2020 15:04

Of these three I would choose Matilda (nickname Tillie).
I prefer Anna to Annabel.
Not keen on Elsie.

florascotia2 · 10/12/2020 14:58

If popularity is an issue, in 2019 in England and Wales:

Elsie ranked 21
Matilda ranked 30
Annabelle ranked 87
Annabel ranked 245

Matilda would be my favourite, I love that name, Annabel is nice, I don't like Elsie at all.

Fredisbest · 10/12/2020 14:32

Elsie
