Talk me into my husband's faves

firefly374 · 05/12/2020 04:48

Ok, so there are a few names that we both like, but there are also a bunch that he likes and I don't. I didn't include any that I totally hate in this list, so these are just the ones that he likes and I don't care for. Please talk me into them! I'd like to find at least a couple here that I don't mind anymore.

Deirdre
Diane
Darla
Dakota
Danielle
Demelza
Dot

Lobsterquadrille2 · 05/12/2020 09:10

Desdemona is a D name. I haven't read your other threads.

springy0c · 05/12/2020 09:06

Dette
Darcy
Deborah
Dinah

SpudulikaSlob · 05/12/2020 08:57

Delphine is beautiful but thanks to Peppa Pig is also a Donkey.

I had no idea, my children don't watch Peppa Pig, we're a Duggee household Grin

Tigger03 · 05/12/2020 08:56

Every time I hear Darla, it’s in a strong Australian accent and a fish killer (finding nemo)

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 08:55

Yeah a bit odd with all the threads tbh. Makes me wonder...

TildaTurnip · 05/12/2020 08:54

This is the 5th thread and lots of questions raised by posters. I think Dominique is the worst of all names you’ve mentioned across the threads but I don’t like any of them. Is the D completely set in stone?

Delilah is nicest.

mistermagpie · 05/12/2020 08:46

I'm not talking you into any of them, they are all pretty awful. Daphne is ok at a push but not the others.

Why does it need to begin with D?

DianeChambers · 05/12/2020 08:44

Darla is nice. Dot is a nice nickname for Dorothy.

Lizadork · 05/12/2020 08:43

I love Darla

Lizadork · 05/12/2020 08:41

Delilah
Daisy
Deana
Dinah
Darcy
Dorothy (over Dot or Dotty)
Daphne
Dana
Dreamer
Deborah

I wouldnt try to talk yourself into a name

ClashCityRocker · 05/12/2020 08:41

Is the D non-negotiable?

(Now there's a sentence I'd thought I'd never say...)

I haven't seen your other threads, but it seems like trying to find a name you like that's a particular letter is a bit back to front.

From that list, I like Darla and Dakota, although both are very American sounding.

Dorothea nickname Dot?

Daisy?

Dionne?

I think D is a hard letter for girls names.

pinkpinecone · 05/12/2020 08:40

Op don't be talked into these your child won't thank you. They are all terrible. All good names for a cat or dog

Scarby9 · 05/12/2020 08:31

From that list, I could use Demelza, I think. But everyone will assume Poldark unless you have a Cornish connection.

AuntyPasta · 05/12/2020 08:27

’Please talk me into them!’

No!

You’re right.

Burnthurst187 · 05/12/2020 08:24

Doris?

user1493494961 · 05/12/2020 08:23

I think they're all Dreadful.

Diverseduvet · 05/12/2020 08:19

How many different threads have you started on this OP? I think I've read 4, all saying different D names. I'm curious why you didn't put them all on one thread?

wizzler · 05/12/2020 08:15

How about Dinah?
I agree with you Op I don't like any of the names on your original post

SlightDrizzle · 05/12/2020 08:09

English people’s mispronunciation of Deirdre makes it an awful name, and the others are mostly weirdly dated.

Dorothea
Dara
Dervla
Delia
Daisy
Dulcie?

micc · 05/12/2020 08:03

I love Dakota!!
I like Diane but I prefer Diana :)

LucyLocketsPocket · 05/12/2020 08:02

What about Daisy?

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 05/12/2020 07:56

I think the reason they are not growing on you are because they are awful. Dot is sweet but is a bit of a small cutesy name for when your DD is an adult. The rest are horrid - especially Deirdre and Darla....

mathanxiety · 05/12/2020 07:50

He is having a laugh.

Sexnotgender · 05/12/2020 07:45

That’s an interesting list.

What names do you like OP?

Nell96 · 05/12/2020 07:43

Demelza is a beautiful Cornish name - and a dab character from 'Poldark'. Still not sure I'd use it though. The rest are dreadful. The only 'D' name I think I'd use is Daphne, which is lovely. Delilah is becoming quite popular and is quite nice.
