What do people think of the name Axel? My OH has decided it's his favourite but I'm not sure. Is it to harsh sounding?

Any opinions or other suggestions would be really helpful thanks

@IamnotwhouthinkIam Max is my fav but already taken and I really like Eric but my partner doesn't thank you for the suggestions

I really like it! Axel Rose is pretty cool. Also like the Axl spelling

Like it - there's an Axel in one of the Jules Verne novels I think. He's tall and athletic and blonde and teutonic in my head/

I's very cool, but I think in English speaking countries Axel still sounds quite Rock Star/Celeb (it's lovely if you have Scandi heritage though.) Lars, Erik, Max, Felix might be options?

I didn't use to like it because I got i mixed up with a car axle (this was as a child!).

But I have since met a lovely Scandinavian little boy called Axel and the name has grown on me.
