A name like Maureen

heyy, in my last post i asked June Maureen or April Maureen. The first names will stay my favorite bit you all said in combination with Maureen it sounds to old. But i really want to honor my moms name. So do you know a name almost the same as Maureen, with the same letters and it looks a lot alike? Please help. A name that fits with June or maybe April

Maureena, Marina, Mirren, Maura. Or maybe Maureen would flow better as a third name, so 'April Lucy Maureen' or whatever.

I would keep Maureen , my daughters have sentimental middle names , my first has Elsie as one of her middle names and at the time every one thought it was "old" sounding and wasn't being used at all at the time , few years later in absolutely soared in popularity and was being used everywhere as a first name !

I think its lovely to have the connection.

To be honest, I don’t think it matters what her middle name is, it’s so rarely used. It’s perfectly lovely to honour your mum in this way. If you’re very concerned you could add in an additional name, eg a friend is Margaret for that reason. But if you want to use Maureen please use Maureen.

I also think you should use it to honour your mum, that's lovely.

But I will say, I have a good friend Máirín, which is the Irish spelling of Maureen. It's pronounced exactly the same, but I think it seems much younger somehow - probably because I associate it with her!

Where I live, Mary Catherine gets shortened to Maureen, and Norah Mary becomes Norma!
My friend has a daughter called Kathleen after her granny, but she is known as Katy.
You can use a middle name as much or as seldom as you want = my dd1 decided to hyphenate her forenames when she was about 15.

I would keep Maureen. It is a middle name so won’t be used often and it sounds fine.

How will having a different name beginning with M, honour or commemorate your Mum? Just go with Maureen as that was your Mum's name, and it will be a lovely family link to talk to your child about.

Imagine how a conversation with your child might be...
"This is a photo of your Nana, we called you Susan, because Nana was called Sylvia"! Confused Confused

Use Maureen. It won't sound old as you hardly ever use a middle name so not a problem at all. A lovely way to honour your mum. They will day to day be June or April which is lovely. I can't remember the last time I said my dds middle name out loud.

I like Maura, as in Maura Tierney. But to be honest, if you want to honour your mum, just use Maureen. It's only a middle name and so it'll rarely be used. I still dislike April and particularly June, and they do sound old when paired with Maureen, but ultimately they're perfectly fine, normal names and so if you like them, that's all that really matters.

I'd keep the Maureen to honour your mum and don't worry if the names go together. How often are you going to call dd by her full name anyway? The middle name is not often used so it's nicer to have something meaningful than something that sounds good on the very rare occasions you say both names together.

Keep Maureen as the middle name, it is important to you and honours your Mum. I like both June and April too. Go with what you feel comfortable with.

Honorific names are rarely “in.” Maureen is a beautiful name and a sweet tribute to your mum.

If it was your mum's name - don't change! Name fashions come and go but it will always be your mum's name.

Im not sure a different but similar name honours her really. I know its not what you asked but did your mum have a middle name, or a favourite flower, her birth month, birth stone, eye colour or something else.
I do agree Mo is a popular diminutive and sound cute or Molly
