Sister for Delilah

Tvchocolatetea · 15/11/2020 08:50

Hey, struggling to find names I love for our baby girl. Have worked with children for years so lots of names I am put of off.

I like Beatrix and Amelie.

My name ends in lie so not sure if that is a problem with Amelie?

Also the middle name will possibly be violet.

If anyone has any ideas that would be great thank you!!

@FloraFlamingo, I am never rude. I comment on things like the suggestion of Elouise - Eloise and Louise are two different names, both lovely, whereas Elouise looks like a typo, which in this case it might be, but what if someone saw it and named their baby DD that and called her Ellie as a nn?

IRL, I know some people with WTF names, and I really wonder what were their parents thinking. Look at this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/4079484-Rhodes, I assumed it was someone messing about, but if it was real that little child will be mighty glad that his or her DM posted on here.

I know sisters named Ruby and Delilah. I think they go well together.

mamablondie33 · 15/11/2020 15:37

Delilah is a beautiful name and is hard to pair with sibling idea but here are a few:

Jemima
Ruby
Saffron
Zara
Jasmine
Autumn
April

To my ears all these names are quite strong and full of personality, like Delilah.

@MikeUniformMike maybe trolling is the wrong word.

But I only ever pop onto a name post when I see it in active and I invariably see you have posted on it and it's always, always rude. Others have also spotted this so maybe it's something to think about for the future? This topic is clearly 'your thing' but I don't know if I would want to be recognised as that poster who just hangs around a topic to make snide comments

I like Beatrix - lovely meaning, goes well with both Delilah and Violet (also love Violet as a first name). Can be shortened to Bea or Trixie, though I prefer the full version.

Not keen on Amelie. I don't dislike it, I just think it blends in with other quite popular names starting with A or E - Amelia, Emma, Emily, Ella, Evie etc.

Other names you might like:

Matilda
Imogen
Eleanor
Josephine
Elodie
Ivy
Annabel
Clara
Camille

Must do if you say so @Thefaceofboe

Thefaceofboe · 15/11/2020 12:19

@MikeUniformMike I see your comments all the time and they are so rude. Do you just sit refreshing the baby name section?

MikeUniformMike · 15/11/2020 12:12

@FloraFlamingo, I don't troll anyone. I suspect that you do not know the meaning of trolling.

If OP had asked for suggestions for a name for a sibling for Sarah and I'd said Mary or Martha, that would not have resulted in (wrongful) allegations of trolling.

RomillyTheRabbit · 15/11/2020 11:49

Beatrix is lovely! I think it goes really well with Delilah.

Amelie is quite popular and sounds a lot like Emily, Amelia, Emelia, which are also popular. I don't get out off names if they're a bit popular, but when there are a few popular names which all sound similar, yes that does actually put me off a bit. So I personally wouldn't use Amelie.

Mish85 · 15/11/2020 11:46

I think Adeline would be lovely with Delilah.

FloraFlamingo · 15/11/2020 11:46

@MikeUniformMike you are always on this topic trolling people, yes. I wonder why

MikeUniformMike · 15/11/2020 11:44

I don't troll anyone @cloverbug.
Delilah is a biblical name as is Jezebel. Same sort of vibe.

@ellmau lovely suggestions. Ah we have a miranda in the family xxx

@cloverbug ah yeah I do love Beatrix. My partner doesn't like it as much. Violet is a family name which is why I would like to use it :) xx

@MikeUniformMike I'm sure. 🙄
You're always on here trolling people.

MikeUniformMike · 15/11/2020 11:09

@cloverbug, it was a genuine suggestion.
