Hello. I have a 3yr old called Rufus (Ru) and am expecting another boy in January. We have gone round and round with names and there's nothing that stands out.
Any ideas please?

My top boy name was Rocco! Rocco and Rufus sounds amazing imo 😂
I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.
So what about, Maxwell, Vincent, Leo, Cameron, Johnny?

I like previous suggestions of Miles.

Shorten! Ffs, what is abirten?

DepuisToujours · 15/11/2020 08:31

Congratulations!

I know a Rufus with a brother called Wilfred. I think they go well together.

I like Rufus and also like Wilfred. You could abirten Wikfred to Wilfie, Wilf or Fred.

Already suggested, but I also think Ezra would work really well.

Milo, Hugo and Jasper too.

Sebastian or Caspar maybe? Or Francis / Franklin?

ShipOfTheseus · 15/11/2020 08:30

Miles is good. Not Milo.
Jasper works.

Chimbleys · 15/11/2020 08:18

Thank you all. I'm not too keen on another R name and looking through the suggestions I realise I'm not fond of boys names ending in the ee sound.
Husband wants Fred but doesnt like Frederick and Im not sure Fred cuts it as a stand alone name.

Someone else said Milo and I think that would be perfect!

Rufus and Milo
Rufus and Hugo
Rufus and Morgan
Rufus and Jasper
Rufus and Tristan

As Rufus has Latin origins I'd probably match with another name that has similar classical origins (so Greco Roman, sometimes via Hebrew) but that isn't Top 20 popular :
Felix
Leon
Elias
Lucas/Lucian
Hector
(Ale)Xander
Maxim(ilian)
Sebastian
Cassian
Andreas
Leander
Evander
Tobias
Jonas
August
Matthias

Finley (Finn)
Gabriel (Gabe)
Troy
Carter
Kingsley
Theodore (Theo)
Dexter (Dex)
Douglas (Dougie)

I also love the suggestion of Casper. Although its not a name I’d ever use as.
I don’t like the abbreviation of Cas. I think it sounds too feminine for a boy.

Lucked · 14/11/2020 23:39

Magnus but maybe two names ending in Us is too much.

Gabriel
Gideon
Felix
Milo
Ellis
Ivan

I wouldn’t go for another R name tbh. What about Max? Jasper? (Jazz) Toby, Joel?
