Thoughts ? It would of been DC2's name if she was a boy we didn't find out baby's sex before the birth.

Forgot to mention. I know one very well. He despises his own name. Please don’t

bubblesforlife · 21/11/2020 16:47

Please don’t. He has to live with that name. Don’t do that to him....

lobsteroll · 21/11/2020 16:33

I really like it!

I do understand what people mean about the nickname Corny but I don't think it's horrendous (I knew someone with the same nickname growing up but it was due to a surname and I never associated it with manly feet 😂😂)

SugarCoatIt · 21/11/2020 16:17

Not keen at all

Folicky · 20/11/2020 21:15

I like it!

Mashingthecompost · 20/11/2020 21:07

I am usually a bit name sniffy, I like this one. I like Con as a nickname. I think I prefer Delius (though now it's written I realise I don't like how it looks!).

PoodleMoth · 20/11/2020 20:44

Love it!

CuppaZa · 19/11/2020 03:09

No, really don’t like how it sounds or the nicknames

MrsKHB · 19/11/2020 02:27

It’s a popular name in my family history but all of them use the shorter version, Con, with the exception of my brother who is known as Neil.

MacaroonMama · 18/11/2020 20:32

My son is called Cornelius! Third son so we had already used a lot of other boys' names we liked.

We have Irish background, where the name is more popular, but even so when my dad suggested it, we put it at the bottom of our list.

Then when DS3 was born, quickly and loudly, we couldn't make any other name fit! He just wasn't Gabriel, Dashiell, Raphael, Robin, Seth - he really was Cornelius!

He is now 4, a very loud but super kind kid, with wild hair and a strong will. People say he 'owns' his name. It certainly seems to suit him!

Nickname tricky though I imagine Con when older. His older brothers still call him Kit sometimes because they thought he was scrunched-up eyes closed tight like a kitten when he was a baby.

Ilovemycat13 · 17/11/2020 14:29

Ah the hate on here makes me sad! Use it OP! I talk from experience of having it as a name..

rooarsome · 17/11/2020 14:19

Anyone else think of Cornelius Fudge? It's a no from me, sorry OP

ShipOfTheseus · 17/11/2020 14:15

I like it, but wouldn’t use it. Old classical name. A name I tend to associate with the Dutch. I’d be worried about Corny.

itssquidstella · 17/11/2020 14:09

It was my great grandfather's name!

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 17/11/2020 14:00

It does sound like a foot condition. Imagine being at the bar and calling out Cornelius, just no!

BumBurnerBum · 17/11/2020 13:58

I hate it. The one I know is now 8 and it's never grown on me.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 17/11/2020 13:56

I think it's ok for an old man - I picture the wise old elephant in Babar books. For a child, not really. How about Julius?

lottiegarbanzo · 17/11/2020 12:44

I quite like it but it would be hard to carry off. Could you use it as a middle name?

Con is nice.

Cornelia nn. Connie or Corrie is probably easier to use.

MikeUniformMike · 17/11/2020 12:36

The uncle was almost certainly a child once.

Enough4me · 17/11/2020 12:33

Always seems to be someone's Uncle, I can't imagine it on a child.

MikeUniformMike · 17/11/2020 12:30

I like it but it did make me think of Planet of the Apes.
My favourite was Galen.

VenusClapTrap · 16/11/2020 22:02

I quite like it. A bit long, but characterful.

resm · 16/11/2020 18:48

Where I’m from, Cornelius is always Con (also knew a male Connie) - I love Con!

SoupDragon · 15/11/2020 12:18

Not sure how it would work on a baby.

But they are naming a ^person," not a baby.

I do really like it for some reason even though I can't imagine using it myself.

TheChristmasPrincess · 15/11/2020 12:15

I had an Uncle Cornelius, everyone called him Cor. It suited him, but he was an affluent middle class man 50+.

Not sure how it would work on a baby.
