Thoughts on the name Callie for a girl? Any any suggestions for middle names?

As the title suggests - considering Callie for our baby girl and would be interested to know people’s thoughts & if you know any other Callies?

Also wondering about middle names - I quite like the idea of a one syllable middle names and Rose is my favourite, DH likes Grace - but both are very common so open to alternatives! Thanks in advance!

I wanted Camilla NN Callie (but dh vetoed).

PatMustardsBigTool · 13/11/2020 20:49

I've always really liked the name Callie after meeting one (and the only one ever) at university. She's about 40 now.
Never taught any Callies.

DepuisToujours · 13/11/2020 20:48

Yes, it's nice. I'm not sure I like it so much as a name on its own, but not sure why... I'm not a die hard purest about having a long name on a BC or anything. I just think Callie on its own is a bit bland.

I like Caliope as a long version.

Or, alternatively, Cassia, which is one of my favourite names and which I think has more to it as a standalone name.

Lovely name, reminds me of the cartoon Sheriff Callie’s wild wild west. I think pretty much any middle name goes well.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/11/2020 20:38

Its okay.
Callie Ray
Callie Ava
Callie Jade
Callie Jo
Callie Beth
Callie Louise
Callie Sofia

My immediate thought was 'Blake's 7' - I am aware I have just given away my age!
Calliope is lovely.

ZombieAttack · 13/11/2020 20:05

I know two! It’s a lovely name.

WhyDoesItAlways · 13/11/2020 19:05

I wanted a Callie/Calliope but ended up with a boy. I think it's a lovely name.

helpmum2003 · 13/11/2020 18:52

Callie Grace would be lovely.

Buffledmom · 13/11/2020 18:42

Prefer the Greek name calliope -> nn Callie
Or Calliroe , Callista, Callipso

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/11/2020 18:32

Love Callie, especially as a nn for Caroline/a, Charlotte or Calista. Maybe consider using family or close friends names for the middle name?

Wildflower219 · 13/11/2020 18:28

I've only ever heard of one callie she was a contestant on love Island but it's a lovely name for a baby. I have to say grace was the first one that came to me for a middle name. There's also Claire, Anna or Rowan as middle names depends on your surname what will work best.

VelvetKitty · 13/11/2020 18:13

I have a friend named Callie Grace. Beautiful name!

ProperVexed · 13/11/2020 18:05

Please call her Calliope....superb name.

bitheby · 13/11/2020 17:59

Two Ls!

bitheby · 13/11/2020 17:58

I would assume short for Caliope which is a lovely name.

CaptainWentworth · 13/11/2020 17:56

Loch not lock - autocorrect! 🤦‍♀️

CaptainWentworth · 13/11/2020 17:55

I have a colleague called Cally and I’ve always thought it was a lovely name- apparently it’s after a Dr Who character (so she says)!

I also know a black lab with the same name which is after a minor Scottish lock- but for some reason it doesn’t seem odd to me that it’s both a person and a dog name.

Anyway I think it’s very nice. Have you thought about using family surnames as a middle name? Both DH and I have (great)grandmother’s maiden names as middle names which I like as it makes them a bit unusual.

GrimDamnFanjo · 13/11/2020 17:50

A friends child is Callie, short for Caliope.

bugaboo218 · 13/11/2020 17:45

Love the name, as I have a Callie! Her real is Caroline. Callie often gets shortened to Cal by us and her best friend. I know another adult Caroline and she is known as Caz.

Middle names yu could consider Mary, Rose, Jane, Leah. We chose a short middle name.

icebubbles · 13/11/2020 17:33

Callie Rose is lovely but the name of a character from the Noughts & Crosses series so might think it's book related?

mayaknew · 13/11/2020 17:32

Live near Glasgow

mayaknew · 13/11/2020 17:32

I wanted it for dc2 but dh said no because we leave near Glasgow and GCU gets called Caly. I do love it and would have used it regardless but ended up having ds

Givemeanidea878 · 13/11/2020 17:30

I love it but it reminds me of the cat on paw patrol too :)

Chilldonaldchill · 13/11/2020 17:29

I like Callie. Personally I'd use it as a nn for Calista but it's ok as a stand alone name.
How about:
Callie Margot
Callie Sarah
Callie Beatrice
Callie Francesca
Callie Georgia
Callie Georgina
Callie Iris
Callie Josephine
Callie Tabitha
