And would love suggestions of Welsh middle names to go with it!

Love it!

I think for women its more commonly spelt Marlo, based on a sample size of one, the actress Marlo Thomas.

notangelinajolie · 11/11/2020 23:07

A surname.

PersonaNonGarter · 11/11/2020 23:06

It is lovely - and I am a right bitch about names.

GaryTheDemon · 11/11/2020 23:04

It’s not elegant or quirky, even with the additional E

GaryTheDemon · 11/11/2020 23:03

As long as you don’t live near there it might be ok, personally I dislike it.

You’re spoilt for choice on welsh names, my favourite is Seren

StillStriving · 11/11/2020 23:02

I like surnames as first names usually, but I think there is something masculine about a surname as a first name. If you think about boys names they are almost all used as surnames (James, Thomas, William(s), Edward, Scott etc are all surnames as well).

DramaAlpaca · 11/11/2020 22:59

I'm not keen on surnames being used as first names.

StillStriving · 11/11/2020 22:59

I don't like it. A girl in DDs toddler class is called Harlow and I cringe slightly (inwardly) every time it's said aloud. I can't explain what it is I don't like about it really.

Even Marla or Marley or something would be nicer?

confusedpombear · 11/11/2020 22:59

Reminds me of the instagrammer Courtney Adamo and her youngest daughter. I like it actually, I think it's very unusual but it's quirky and elegant

riverrain · 11/11/2020 22:59

I love it!! What about Haf as a middle name? It's welsh for summer Smile

timetest · 11/11/2020 22:58

It sounds like a surname. I’m not too sure about it as a first name.

raskolnikova · 11/11/2020 22:55

Makes me think of Philip Marlowe

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 11/11/2020 22:02

My friend just had a little girl and called her Marlowe I hadn't heard it before but I really like it

SpookyNoise · 11/11/2020 21:42

I don’t like it. It sounds more like a boy.

MaggieFS · 11/11/2020 21:41

I'm not aware of it as a name, it just reminds me of the town or surname, so I'm not keen. Even thinking of it as a name, I think of it more as a boy's name.

chunkyrun · 11/11/2020 21:28

It's lovely! What about carys or Nareece?
