Hi, we're due DD1 soon, we're trying to decide on a name.

DH has vetoed any more unusual namesConfused, we are now trying to decide between 3:

Grace
Alice
Layla

Which would you choose?

Layla but I’d go with the Leila spelling, if you wrote both out Leila flows much nicer. It can also be said both ways, lee - lah and lay - la so even as an adult they can choose how their name is pronounced.

Grace is lovey,

Alice is not nice, sorry Confused

FippertyGibbett · 16/11/2020 14:51

Grace or Alice, not Layla.

notalwaysalondoner · 16/11/2020 14:50

Grace.

Alice is classic and will stand the test of time - if a little dull.
Layla is very trendy and will date quickly.
Grace is the prettiest of the three while still being classic.

Layla has a very different feel to Alice and Grace, which is almost certainly influencing the answers - I'm also not at all keen on Layla (though I quite like Leila). Alice is nicer than Grace IMO. Both are popular, but I think Grace has become a bit of a generic middle name alongside Rose.

Theyaremyforeverx · 16/11/2020 13:14

Grace sounds nice x

MercyBodle · 16/11/2020 13:10

All nice names, but Alice is my favourite, then Grace.

cloverbug · 16/11/2020 12:12

I like Grace and Layla, both are beautiful.

RoseMartha · 09/11/2020 21:58

Grace

Although Alice Grace sounds nice together

NatalieH2220 · 09/11/2020 21:55

Grace is my favourite from your choices

Firebird83 · 09/11/2020 21:52

Alice

YoniAndGuy · 09/11/2020 10:30

All a bit bland. Layla's awful, definitely not that.

Alice is less boring than Grace.

Enderline · 09/11/2020 10:23

Statistically speaking, Layla is the least popular - but because of so many spelling variations (Laila, Leila, Leyla) as well as similar sounding names (Lila, Lyla, Leela, Lola) - it won't stand out from the crowd much.

I don't really care for Alice or Grace either, but both are timeless and classic enough.

Krazynights34 · 08/11/2020 18:56

Grace

MikeUniformMike · 08/11/2020 18:25

Alice.

Grace is ok but I don't like Layla

Namechange8471 · 08/11/2020 18:08

JackHam · 08/11/2020 17:52

Alice

TheDetectiveBadge · 08/11/2020 17:48

Grace and Alice are both more popular than Layla currently. Layla is definitely my favourite!

Flymetothestars · 08/11/2020 17:46

Angel2702 · 08/11/2020 17:46

Alice

EisQuiaPiusEs · 08/11/2020 17:44

Alice. It's lovely.

Not Layla.

InvisibleToEveryone · 08/11/2020 17:44

Hate Layla.

Grace, very popular.

Alice, I like.

Juliet? Seems to be similar vein to yours. I know you aren't asking for more...

AdaColeman · 08/11/2020 17:42

Alice and Grace are both lovely, but I'm not too keen on Layla.

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2020 17:41

Alice.

Quizeerascal · 08/11/2020 17:38

Alice and Grace are lovely and timeless but Grace seems to have been very popular in recent years if that bothers you. I'm less keen on Layla but its still a good name, prefer it spelt Leila. As others have said I think bear all three in mind and see what she looks like.
