Absolutely love the name Norah and it is also the name of my Grandmother. I’m worried it might be a bit too old fashioned though. What do you thinks?

'Nitty Norah' is what came straight into my mind, but, as we are well into two pages in and no-one else has said it, I guess it must just be me Blush but still I wouldn't name a dd of mine Norah.

Heh1991 · 10/11/2020 01:02

I love it x

Escourtie · 09/11/2020 19:32

Beautiful Name

AgathaTabathaBagatha · 09/11/2020 19:25

I love it, not a fan of old-fashioned names usually, but Norah is actually quite elegant.

Norah Jones beats Nora Batty any day! Grin

MrsEricBana · 09/11/2020 18:39

Love it too. Nora Seed is the main character in the Midnight Library. (V good)

VenusClapTrap · 09/11/2020 18:36

Lovely. I like Noor a lot too.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 09/11/2020 16:04

MercyBodle · 09/11/2020 03:44

While it doesn't appeal to me it is perfectly up-to-date - in fact I assume it's rising in the name popularity charts.

Spaghettibetty345 · 09/11/2020 02:00

I like it...reminds me of Norah Jones

alexdgr8 · 09/11/2020 01:40

was one of my GM names, but i don't care for it really.
i guess norah batty comes to mind.
but is a perfectly proper name. go with your choice.
i prefer noreen, think it sounds less abrupt.

Danniiaddy · 09/11/2020 01:29

Personally just think Batty when I hear Nora but kids at school will never have heard of Last Of The Summer Wine so just roll with it!

BettysSpaghetti · 08/11/2020 23:51

I love that it means ‘light’.

Thanks all. Now to work on the middle name.

I know a beautiful, inside and out, 25 year old Nora. I love the name.

Sals27 · 08/11/2020 23:01

My DD goes to nursery with a 2 yo Norah. It suits her

resm · 08/11/2020 22:58

I really love it, especially that spelling. Also love it as a nickname for Eleanor.

Viviennemary · 08/11/2020 22:12

I don't like it at all. I've never known one. It's just not a very attractive sounding name. Nora Batty comes to mind. Pretty awful actually.

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2020 22:09

Totally up to you of course, but to me it's a very ugly, unattractive name that sounds old fashioned and not at all fresh.

FluffyEggsontoast · 08/11/2020 18:37

Great name

Flappingflamingo · 08/11/2020 18:37

Love it

PlantPotting · 08/11/2020 18:11

Absolutely love this name! Excellent choice and sounds fresh not old fashioned

CorvusPurpureus · 08/11/2020 18:00

I like it - I teach in the ME so loads of Noras, Nourhans, Nuriyes, Noors & Nours! (The last two are unisex).

It means 'light' in Arabic, so roughly equivalent to Lucy or Luke, & 'honour' in various European countries, so very positive connotations.

Nice sensible name, due a comeback.

ShanCalla · 08/11/2020 17:26

I love Norah.

Brighterthansunflowers · 08/11/2020 17:20

I love it

Old fashioned names are very in at the moment, she’ll probably be in a class with names like Edith, Albert, Stanley and Florence so Norah really won’t stand out
