What are your thoughts on the name April?

Me and OH both love it but my only doubt is that baby is actually due in April (unless a few days early!) - is that too cheesy or would it be weirder if they weren't born in April? We both decided we liked the name before linking it to the due date issue!

Middle name would likely be Matilda.

I love April, I think it's got such lovely associations - spring, sunshine etc. Would have definitely been in my shortlist if I'd had a girl.

I love it and I think you can use it any time not just when a baby is born in April

Ltay2 · 21/03/2021 00:20

Also yes good job he wasn't a girl as we would have gone with April and then would have been born early in March anyway 🤣

Ha - congratulations -

partyatthepalace · 20/03/2021 19:51

Nice name, refreshingly rare.

But yes somehow makes more sense if born in April, cos it’s kind of funny to have ‘oh were you born in April?’ ‘no - March’, not that it should stop you...

Flymetothestars · 20/03/2021 12:09

@Ltay2 what a gorgeous name. I think you said it's been your husbands fav name for ages. I thought it was the best on your list too. Congratulations! Thank you so much for the update. Hope you're recovering ok

April is a lovely name

Flymetothestars · 20/03/2021 10:50

What did you end up picking @Ltay2

Chillychangchoo · 20/03/2021 09:13

Ahh, just seen it’s a boy. 🤦‍♀️ can alwahs use it again in the future, and she never gets her name shortened to Ape.

Good luck with your baby boy!! Xx

Chillychangchoo · 20/03/2021 09:09

Sorry, don’t know why I put baby! Guess she still is 🤣

Chillychangchoo · 20/03/2021 09:09

I have a 9 year old baby April who was born in December and I can honestly say she has never once been asked if she was born in April. Not once.

I just loved the name. She was actually conceived in April but I didn’t even twig that, it was just a coincidence. You must be due soon. Good luck.

WildCherryBlossom · 09/11/2020 14:43

Both very good names OP. And both equally good with James. Hold onto them both until he's born and see which one feels right then. (With one of mine I took one look and decided on a name which hadn't even been on our shortlist.)

Ltay2 · 09/11/2020 14:34

@FluffyEggsontoast I did start another thread for boys names but we are torn between Evan and Rowan, middle name definitely James. Yesterday I was swaying towards Rowan more but today I'm thinking Evan. Change my mind daily!

Lovely! One of my faves

FluffyEggsontoast · 09/11/2020 14:05

@Ltay2 ahhh how lovely! Congratulations on your boy

April Matilda is perfect by the way- save it for next time

Can we help you with boy name ideas now @Ltay2

WildCherryBlossom · 09/11/2020 13:53

Congratulation @Ltay2 lovely news. It's a joy having babies in Spring time. Days getting lighter, far less time spent bundling tiny newborns into layers of warm clothes, easier to take the baby for little walks in the fresh air, and all of nature seems to be in tune with you - flowers opening, ducklings hatching....

I think Easter falls in early April this year so you could always go with Pascal for a boy (French for Easter) if you still want something topical 😁

Ltay2 · 09/11/2020 13:30

Thank you all for your input. We found out this morning we are having a baby boy so this whole chat is now redundant unfortunately 😂

I love it, my DH said no😫

I’m also due April 10th.

VenusClapTrap · 08/11/2020 18:49

She could be Ril Til or Rilly Tilly for short, which is cute for the toddler years.

MimiDaisy11 · 08/11/2020 15:15

I've seen this topic a few times and there are people who think it's weird if April is born in April and then there are people who think the baby has to be from any other month apart from April - I'm not sure of the split but it always seems about even LOL. I don't think it matters as long as it's a nice name which April is.

RuthW · 08/11/2020 14:41

April is lovely.

My dd's second middle name is May because she was due to be born mid may. She was three weeks early and born in April. She has always loved telling the story.

emilybrontescorsett · 08/11/2020 14:10

I only like it if the child is born in that month, otherwise I think it’s naff.

Ltay2 · 08/11/2020 13:52

Thank you all! Will definitely go with April Matilda now if we have a girl. Just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
