What are your thoughts on the name April?

Me and OH both love it but my only doubt is that baby is actually due in April (unless a few days early!) - is that too cheesy or would it be weirder if they weren't born in April? We both decided we liked the name before linking it to the due date issue!

Middle name would likely be Matilda.

I love April, I think it's got such lovely associations - spring, sunshine etc. Would have definitely been in my shortlist if I'd had a girl.

I love it and I think you can use it any time not just when a baby is born in April

Also yes good job he wasn't a girl as we would have gone with April and then would have been born early in March anyway 🤣

Nice name, refreshingly rare.

But yes somehow makes more sense if born in April, cos it’s kind of funny to have ‘oh were you born in April?’ ‘no - March’, not that it should stop you...

Baby was actually born this week on Monday night ☺️ he is called Evan James

Ahh, just seen it’s a boy. 🤦‍♀️ can alwahs use it again in the future, and she never gets her name shortened to Ape.

I have a 9 year old baby April who was born in December and I can honestly say she has never once been asked if she was born in April. Not once.

I just loved the name. She was actually conceived in April but I didn’t even twig that, it was just a coincidence. You must be due soon. Good luck.

Both very good names OP. And both equally good with James. Hold onto them both until he's born and see which one feels right then. (With one of mine I took one look and decided on a name which hadn't even been on our shortlist.)

@FluffyEggsontoast I did start another thread for boys names but we are torn between Evan and Rowan, middle name definitely James. Yesterday I was swaying towards Rowan more but today I'm thinking Evan. Change my mind daily!

Congratulation @Ltay2 lovely news. It's a joy having babies in Spring time. Days getting lighter, far less time spent bundling tiny newborns into layers of warm clothes, easier to take the baby for little walks in the fresh air, and all of nature seems to be in tune with you - flowers opening, ducklings hatching....

I think Easter falls in early April this year so you could always go with Pascal for a boy (French for Easter) if you still want something topical 😁

She could be Ril Til or Rilly Tilly for short, which is cute for the toddler years.

I've seen this topic a few times and there are people who think it's weird if April is born in April and then there are people who think the baby has to be from any other month apart from April - I'm not sure of the split but it always seems about even LOL. I don't think it matters as long as it's a nice name which April is.

April is lovely.

My dd's second middle name is May because she was due to be born mid may. She was three weeks early and born in April. She has always loved telling the story.

I only like it if the child is born in that month, otherwise I think it’s naff.

Thank you all! Will definitely go with April Matilda now if we have a girl. Just have to wait until tomorrow to find out.
