Baby due any day and still have no name

I'd love a little help coming up with some names for our baby girl who was due yesterday.

For this entire pregnancy I thought my husband and I had agreed on the name Delilah. I have a feeling he told his parents recently, who I know don't like the biblical and Tom Jones references. He's suddenly said (2 weeks ago) that he doesn't like that she might have negative associations with her name. He won't budge now.

I love the name Delilah, so any suggestions similar would be fantastic. I don't mind Freya. I prefer slightly more unusual names.

DH has suggested:
Cecelia
Lydia
Isla

@SeanCailleach

Er.. Cecilia by Simon and Garfunkel, while being a fantastic song, is not really an improvement on Delilah by Tom Jones Wink

How about:
Tallulah
Jemima
Wynona
Marina

Yes I thought of this too. The Simon and Garfunkel song is really catchy and if you're worried about people singing a song at her I'd avoid this one.

I have a delilah, it's very weird but barely anyone I have spoken to knows the biblical association, I thought it would be more well known...maybe nobody saw the epic bible movies I watched as a kid🤷‍♀️

The song thing doesn't bother her at all...in fact she thinks it's cool having two songs with her name...her guitar teacher taught her why, why delilah and she was happy with that

Other names I liked were
Camilla
Helena
Cassandra

I actually make the connection with the Plain White T's - Hey there Delilah over the Tom Jones song and suspect the younger generation may do the same.

I really like Delilah but you could go for Lila/Lilah instead.

Katgolde · 05/11/2020 09:33

Cecilia is a saint and Lydia is a Biblical name FWIW. Both lovely names.

Flymetothestars · 05/11/2020 09:32

Love the name Delilah
Not heard the Tom Jones song in about 20 years and don't make the connection anymore anyway. Next generation won't get the reference.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 05/11/2020 07:59

The song Delilah would put me off.
It’s only recently I’ve realised the lyrics are about Delilah being stabbed to death and deserving it because she allegedly cheated.

Freya is lovely, also Lyla, Maeve, Verity.

blinkybill47 · 05/11/2020 07:53

@timothytoeseatenbyaghoul

Love Delilah and Lydia. Lydia was on my list for my youngest but we left it to her siblings to name her and they chose Alana. Other suggestions: Betsy, tallulah, Megan, Roma, Tabitha, Callie, Savannah, Nicole, verity.
Love this list! Alana is what we've chose if baby is a girl. Beautiful choice 🥰
Minkies13 · 05/11/2020 00:01

I'm loving all these suggestions as well as people telling me which names they prefer from the short list we have. Thank you so much.

Yes, I think I'll wait until she's born to actually name her but it's great we now have a shortlist to go off.

I love Cecily rather than Cecilia. Also Clara, Iona, Sabine, Elodie.

I love Delilah! Such a pretty name that's not overused. One of my favourites but we can't use as we have a niece called Lyla!

Flymetothestars · 04/11/2020 21:03

Absolutely love the name Delilah it's so pretty. You won't think about a Tom Jones song when it's your daughters name

Stick with Delilah

If not, how about:

Felicity
Verity
Clementine
Imogen
Jemima
Margot

Diverseduvet · 04/11/2020 18:10

Wait till she arrives? Something will jump out at you. You have ages untill you have to register and it gives you a chance to try some names out (just dont tell anyone what your trying)

Ladderofyears · 04/11/2020 18:07

I have to confess that the biblical story of Delilah would really put me off the name (and I don't think it's that pretty really).
Cecilia is gorgeous. Freya is lovely too.
How about:
Tabitha
Thea
Cecily
Anastasia
Elspeth

Lelophants · 04/11/2020 16:44

Dahlia after the flower?

markzuckerbergsgreytshirt · 04/11/2020 16:43

Barbara

YoniAndGuy · 04/11/2020 16:36

So his parents put him off?

I wouldn't have a bar of that, personally. Is she having his surname - if so, definitely tell him it's Delilah, and in future if you go running to your parents I'll add Petronella Daisybum for middle names too.

Delilah is fab.

emmathedilemma · 04/11/2020 15:26

Delilah is great!
Isla is incredibly popular although I really like it. also like Lydia, not so keen on Cecilia.
What about Delia?

starkid · 04/11/2020 15:12

Dahlia
Dinah
Liliya
