Great list. Favourite is Arthur but many more I also really like
Least favourite by mile is Reuben

MercyBodle · 06/11/2020 13:00

Best: Hugo and Edward.

I also like George, Arthur, Frederick, Patrick.

Really dislike: Reuben. It will always be a hillbilly name for me.

MarshaBradyo · 05/11/2020 18:35

Rather than shortening that is, if you will

MarshaBradyo · 05/11/2020 18:35

Frederick
Edward

But prefer the full names

emilybrontescorsett · 05/11/2020 18:34

George - I’ve never liked this name. Doesn’t make a very nice sound and reminds me of a very rotund man.
Arthur - no old mans name.
Reuben - I like this not too common.
Hugo - sounds very posh tweed jacket and floppy hair
Edward - great classic timeless with good nicknames. My favourite.

Fredrick - I don’t like Freddie or Fred
Patrick - second favourite.

Woui · 05/11/2020 10:59

Edward all the way.

Not keen at all on Hugo

SocialBees · 05/11/2020 10:49

Favourites - Edward, Arthur
Least favourites - Reuben, Frederick

TheDetectiveBadge · 05/11/2020 10:47

Best - George and Edward.
Least - Reuben.

Flymetothestars · 05/11/2020 10:45

Funnily enough, the number of boys called Hugo and Reuben was virtually identical according to official stats in 2019. I know so many Reubens and so many boys with R names it's crazy. Very trendy name at the moment
@YoniAndGuy

YoniAndGuy · 05/11/2020 10:08

Best - Reuben and Hugo, though I too would go for Hugh now, Hugo’s a bit trendy. Reuben’s lovely and still unusual and Roo is a good nn.

Least - George is so boring and overused. Patrick - I have an absolute hatred for this name, it’s horrible, and Pat is such a ridiculous nn for a boy. Unless he channels the Butcher and you pop some massive earrings on him from an early age!

Tucancrossing · 04/11/2020 21:32

I like Arthur and Hugo best and Patrick and Edward least.

Ohtannenbaumohtannenbaum · 04/11/2020 21:07

George, Reuben and Hugo are good

Edward is nice but I prefer it as a mn

I dislike Arthur and Fredrick, and I strongly dislike Patrick

Flymetothestars · 04/11/2020 21:05

Lovely list
Really like all your names except Reuben, which I strongly dislike.
And Patrick I like but the nickname Pat puts me off.

MikeUniformMike · 04/11/2020 16:51

Not RTFT.

George - fine
Arthur - fine
Reuben - will be misspelt. Too many similar R names popular right now.
Hugo - like but it's a bit too trendy
Edward - fine
Fredrick - Frederick. not keen
Patrick - fine

I think I like hugo most, but it's too popular, so I'd say Patrick. Will be Pat or Paddy though. I'd use Paddy.

starkid · 04/11/2020 15:26

In order of best to worst:
George
Arthur
Edward
Hugo
Fredrick
Patrick
Reuben

user1493494961 · 04/11/2020 11:10

Best Edward and Patrick. Least Reuben and Frederick.

TheGirlWhoLived · 04/11/2020 09:07

I’m calling ds Hugo, so definitely my favourite!

Ladderofyears · 04/11/2020 09:06
  1. George - this is a pet hate name of mine for absolutely no good reason. I've got a feeling it might be to do with Georgie porgie rhyme when I was a kid!
  2. Arthur - I like this name in theory more than I do in reality but I'm not sure why
  3. Reuben - I like this name though I slightly prefer Rufus. But I love the nickname Roo
  4. Hugo - I love this name. Smart and stylish and not fussy.
  5. Edward - classic for a good reason
  6. Fredrick - assuming this is a typo for Frederick. I like it but I do know a million Freddies
  7. Patrick - it's ok. I don't dislike it. So the ones I've met have been a little dull.
Mish85 · 04/11/2020 08:56

Frederick
Arthur
George
Hugo
Edward
Patrick
Reuben

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 03/11/2020 22:37

George
Arthur
Reuben
Hugo
Edward
Fredrick
Patrick

Best is Patrick with Edward and Arthur joint second.

Worst is Hugo by a country mile. Associate it with posh drunken rugger boys in red trousers.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 03/11/2020 22:08

What the heck - my computer is f*ed, apologies!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 03/11/2020 22:07

4.George - very classic but personally not keen on the sound of it.
3.Arthur - nice and traditional but has suddenly gotten a bit popular/trendy.
6.Reuben - not my taste, sorry.
7.Hugo - too trendy but weirdly I think Hugh is great, much more classic.
1.Edward - lovely and timeless, great nickname choices too.

  1. Frederick - nice, just prefer the similar style Edward.
  2. Patrick - pleasant enough but feels slightly dated somehow.
