Pick your favourite.

Lara or Lena

But any of your other choices over Laura which has been suggested a couple of times now. Dreadfully dull name she’d share with a fair few of her classmates own mums. It is not due a revival.

Luna or Lyra

Chewingtoffee · 01/11/2020 22:31

It's ott to worry about what a name spells...backwards.

Iris = Siri.
Lee = eel.
Marc = cram.
Naomi = imoan.
Dennis = sinned.

I prefer Laura.
Not on your list but due a revival

Chewingtoffee · 01/11/2020 22:25

I mean God spells dog backwards and we don't have a problem with that. Rae is ear. Raj is jar. Etc. Can't worry about that kind of thing.

Lyra is my favourite, followed by Lara. Luna and Lena nice.

Lana is nice but spells anal backwards so I would avoid for that reason.

RuudGullitOnAShed · 01/11/2020 22:17

Lara - beautiful name and I once taught the most fabulous Lara so it has good associations for me,

TippledPink · 01/11/2020 22:08

Also she has never had issues at school with her name spelt backwards.

TippledPink · 01/11/2020 22:07

I have a DD called Lana- I still love her name 14 years later! If not Lana , I would pick Lara out of your list.

Thrownaway · 01/11/2020 22:04

Lyra

lockdown555 · 01/11/2020 21:56

Larissa with nickname Lara?

MeMeMeYou · 01/11/2020 21:55

I liked Lyra but my OH also said it was too close to Lycra. I’d have said Lana sounded nice until someone once pointed out it was anal backwards! Lara is lovely. Not keen on Luna.

CeramicGuineaPig · 01/11/2020 21:46

Lara

victoria0132 · 01/11/2020 21:44

Lara

Squeakerfoot · 01/11/2020 21:13

Lara and Lyra are my favourites. Léna is pretty too.

Tempusfudgeit · 01/11/2020 21:06

I have a Lara! Dr Zhivago for me, Tomb Raider for DH. We have a mixed marriage Grin

Floralnomad · 01/11/2020 21:05

Lara is the only one I’d consider .

Orphlids · 01/11/2020 21:04

I love Lara. I can hear it now, being said in Omar Sharif’s adoring tone. Doctor Zhivago made it seem so fabulous. And the accompanying music, Lara’s Theme, is just lovely too.

Cotswoldmama · 01/11/2020 20:51

Lana is my favourite, the rest are too popular for me except Lena but I'm not so keen on that.

Fabuleuse · 01/11/2020 20:48

Lara

Ellovera2 · 01/11/2020 20:46

I know an Alannah who goes by Lana for short. Don't like it on it's own really.
I'm a teacher and we have all of these in our school atm. All lovely names!

AtomicSquash · 01/11/2020 20:46

Lyra

RuthW · 01/11/2020 20:46

Lana or Luna for me. Don't like the others

fridaseyebrows · 01/11/2020 20:45

Lara or Lyra

PP has mentioned awkward backward spelling of Lana...very popular in Ireland, also means wool in Italian which I just can’t get out of my head

I have met a few Lunas - the human and the canine kind. Again too close to looney - doesn’t sit right with me
