Hi all!

Just wondered how you feel about these names? Do you like them, and what is your order of preference, and why? What sort of image do they conjure up if you imagine a little girl with these names?

Thank you!

I LOVE Dorothea. Middlemarch is one of my favourite books ever.

My daughter is Theodora. She is only ever called Ted/Teddy. It suits her a ridiculous amount. We love the name, but we do tend to idol the 40s/50s fashions and Teddy as a girls name was really quite popular. Theodora she also suits, and I adore it still. Gives her much more scope for a more sensible name if she doesn’t want to be known as Teddy in a professional capacity.

I like Dorothy best.

  1. Dorothea
  2. Theodora
(I reckon you could use nn Dora, Dory or Thea etc with either one).
  1. Dorothy

Dorothea reminds me of Middlemarch which is a positive association! I'd imagine someone cultured, sensitive and thoughtful for Dorothea or Theodora.

Dorothy doesn't sound as pretty or sophisticated. It reminds me of an older person. Although obviously the Oz connection is lovely!

Love them all.
I think, because I know a little Dottie, I am partial to Dorothy. It's just a great name. I prefer Dottie to Teddie or Thea.

PuppyMonkey · 01/11/2020 10:56

I vote Dorothy.

SocialBees · 01/11/2020 10:56

I'd choose Dorothea. I prefer the nickname Thea (pronounced Tee-a) to Dot / Dottie / Dora.

NoCureForLove · 01/11/2020 10:52

Dorothy is my favourite but I like them all. The others bit long for everyday use so will be shortened? Dorothy more likely to be her everyday name if you want that- but still lots of scope for nicknames...

Theodora, Dorothea, Dorothy - Theodora is my favourite. I dislike Dorothy. I'd go with Dora as a shortening rather than Teddy or Teddi.

Really like them all to be honest!!
