Nicknames for Autumn

I love the name Autumn but I’m big on nicknames and can’t seem to think of a nickname that comes from the name. We’ve thought of Fall (as it’s another name for Autumn) What does everyone think? Do you have any other suggestions?

My DD (who has a long and beautiful and uncommon name which lends itself to many sensible nns) is known as Bungle. God knows why.

DC4 is 19 and I discovered about a fortnight ago that he also has a bonkers and unrelated nn.

I wouldn't set too much store by nicknames, OP.

Yeah I would agree; nicknames just evolve and can be as much to do with personality rather than name. My first goes by full name even though there are many many nickname options for her name. She just suits the full whack.

My second has gone by a nickname pretty much since she was born as my eldest could only pronounce the nickname at that point, and again it suits her.

Now she's actually got a second nickname which is nothing to do with her name but because of something she funny that she does a lot. It's been natural and gradual and I'd never have dreamed we would call her this when we picked her name.

Leaf? Nicknames are funny though, they just sort of evolve. My 2 year old (Anne) gets called Annie B, after Anne Boleyn. Grin
(I love Tudor history and Anne loves dancing to the SIX musical.)

I know an Autumn who sometimes goes by Tommy. I see the logic of Autumn > Fall (it’s no stranger than the classic Margaret > Daisy), but do you like Fall as a name? If not, I’d be more inclined to wait and see - you might like Ottie or Audie or something else completely. Historically, there’s a lot of creativity in English language naming - how do we get (just for example) Mary > Polly or Catherine > Kitty or James> Jimmy or Henry > Hank or Charles > Chuck except by playing around with sound?

Why would you want her to be called Fall if you love the name Autumn?
If you love nicknames so much and plan to use one exclusively, you might be better off finding a nickname you want to use first, and then choosing a longer name to have on the bc. (Or not, just choose a name you like)

Calling a child Autumn then suggesting Fall as a nickname to me saying that they are called Carol but using Song as a nickname. It is quite ridiculous. She would likely become Auts or Auttie.

I know quite a few Autumns, none of them are known by anything other than Autumn. If you want a nickname or shortening choose different name, or use a middle name, or have Autumn as the middle name.

I would wait as nicknames tend to appear spontaneously rather than being picked.
