Do you know anyone with my potential baby name

Hello,
Esme is the frontrunner for our baby's name.
But I'm a bit confused as to whether it's popular or not. It's currently mid forties on the charts but when I've spoken to people they say that they know of quite a few.
Could be regional thing?

It would be great if you could let me know if you know any (and their ages) and also if you don't know any at all!

Thanks

She's 4 and adorable. It became popular after the last twilight film

MJMG2015 · 27/10/2020 22:49

Bets, not beds!

MJMG2015 · 27/10/2020 22:48

@cherrybrakewell

Also really don't want the Twilight association! I would pronounce it Es-Me if we used it. Maybe there are more Es-Mays these days because of Twilight?!
I know 1, she's in her 50's.

It doesn't matter how you'll say it, once she starts school (or even nursery) all beds are iff, so if you don't like EsMay, I'd suggest you choose a different name.

SW London. I know one who’s 3, and one 79 year old. It’s not as popular as Isabella/Sophia/Ottillie, which seem to be a the most in names at the moment.

Mollymalone123 · 27/10/2020 22:42

I know two 10 year old esme’s and one 50 year old. Also ten years ago a woman in front of me in a queue at the hospital one day was a roughly 80 year old esme. And i once years ago heard someone been called over to her friends, she would be in her 30’s now. Grin

Justmuddlingalong · 27/10/2020 22:21

1 in her 50s in Scotland. I like it.

sorryforswearing · 27/10/2020 22:21

Colleague’s granddaughter. She’s about 6.

SoloMummy · 27/10/2020 22:20

Yes there's one in my Los class and one two years below. There was also one in our playgroups we attended.

Magicbabywaves · 27/10/2020 22:20

None here in East London.

SapphosRock · 27/10/2020 22:17

I know 2 Esmes and 2 Esmies, I think the oldest is 6.

Two live in Manchester, one in London and one in Brighton.

Ffsffsffsffsffs · 27/10/2020 22:15

I've worked in schools (x5) for the last 16 years, from nursery to 6th form, maybe 4000 kids in that time. Never met a single Esme. Yorkshire. No idea what current baby trends are, but I love it

CantStandMeow · 27/10/2020 22:13

Loads - south

Cecilia2016 · 27/10/2020 22:13

My former neighbours 4year old is called Esme ( S E)

RuthW · 27/10/2020 22:12

I know one and she's 24.

Where I work you get to know the baby names and there have been a fair few in the last 5 years
