Do you know anyone with my potential baby name

Hello,
Esme is the frontrunner for our baby's name.
But I'm a bit confused as to whether it's popular or not. It's currently mid forties on the charts but when I've spoken to people they say that they know of quite a few.
Could be regional thing?

It would be great if you could let me know if you know any (and their ages) and also if you don't know any at all!

Thanks

I mentioned the 5 year old I know above. I also went to school with one. She’ll be late 40s now. DD informs me that there are 2 in reception at her school.(W Yorks).

Theorangeorange · 28/10/2020 05:27

Overseasmom100 · 27/10/2020 23:45

BillysMyBunny · 27/10/2020 23:42

It seemed quite popular when I was living in the South of England and I knew several adults and babies/ children but I can’t think that I’ve met any since moving up North.

HazeyJaneII · 27/10/2020 23:33

I know an elderly Esme, a 14 year old Esme and a 3 year old Esme.

It's a lovely name.

Sassy306 · 27/10/2020 23:30

I'm in North East Scotland. My 2. 5 year old is called Esme 😁 I didn't know any one else young or old called this but since I had her, 2 other ladies have named their children Esme, both are within 5 miles but I'm not too bothered, they are young enough that they won't be in the same class which is one thing I didnt want as being called Sarah myself I was one of 4 in my year lol. Both other ladies used the spelling Esmé but in France, this is the masculine version (feminine is Esmée) .. So i avoided the fancy e at the end in case she ever meets a French man 😁

FairFridaythe13th · 27/10/2020 23:19

I know an Australian one - she must be 18 by now.

Iloveyazz · 27/10/2020 23:18

My 21 Yr old daughter is Esmée. Her dad calls her ezmay, I call her ezmee or ezzy. She doesn't care which, she was about 6 when we met the first other esmee. It is old French feminine form for beloved, and I love that. Strictly speaking I think Esme is a masculine form. I'm in South East.

Poppyismyfavourite · 27/10/2020 23:16

I know a 14 Yr old one in the North East, and one in her 70/80s in Surrey

Wiredforsound · 27/10/2020 23:16

I only know of it through the Twilight books. In fairness, they all had good names - Edward, Bella, Jaspar, Alice, Jacob, etc. As long as you don’t go with the horror that is Renesmee, you’ll be fine. Esme is a lovely name.

Simbidian · 27/10/2020 23:15

I know one who is in her late teens

supersky · 27/10/2020 23:15

I'm in the North West. I have an Esme, I know 3 primary age Esme's and one in early 20's

WeeM · 27/10/2020 23:11

I don’t know any but I really like it. I had no idea about the twilight association.

Ohtannenbaumohtannenbaum · 27/10/2020 23:08

Misskg1982 · 27/10/2020 23:01

I wanted to call our DD Esme but my OH has a aunty with the same name who doesnt speak to the family so it was a no. She's in her 50s I believe. I had a little girl in my class last year with the same name, she's now 6. Lovely name.

thisldo · 27/10/2020 22:58

emilybrontescorsett · 27/10/2020 22:54

I know 2 one is 18 and the other mid 20s.

Ladderofyears · 27/10/2020 22:51

I know one who's about 80.

RoysFrankenstein · 27/10/2020 22:51

In my part of London I'd put Esme with Evie and Edie in terms of popularity for babies, the Ava's around here are 6/7/8 along with the Islas. Far more baby Esme/ Edies and even Evie is losing popularity.
