Middle name for posie?

I actually really like Posy; I think of Ballet Shoes, as someone upthread said. I do prefer the y ending as Posie feels more like a nickname to me, and also I think Posy would be easier for one to "wear" as an adult. Other than that minor quibble with spelling (and I appreciate OP has said she just prefers the ie version) I don't see what the problem with it is.

I like how Posie is an anagram of "Poise".

It's a lovely name with a lovely meaning.

I'm not keen on Posie, but I think Rebecca makes a lovely middle name for it.

I'm not a fan of the name, but I don't like cutesy names like Millie, Tilly etc
I think it goes with Elizabeth though, and saying you can imagine an adult with the name is different to someone having a name and growing up with it, you get used to them having that name so you wouldn't think it was weird as a teen/ adult
At the end of the day, if you both like it that's all that matters

Posie is cute for an under 7. However I think it would sound silly on a grown woman. It sounds like a diminutive that she has kept from her childhood.

Posy is lovely but I'm less keen on Posie because I keep reading it as postie.

Posy Elizabeth works well as do many 3/4 syllable names e.g. Harriet, Imogen, Katherine, Isabel, Louisa, or single syllable names such as Kate, Jane, etc.

Why don't people read the OP's question? She didn't ask for your opinions on the names chosen for her baby, simply for suggestions for a middle name to go with Posie! Who the hell do you think cares about your opinions? I sincerely hope some of you don't respond to a verbal question from family or friends with such judgey answers.

I like Posie, it's pretty. Please don't take any notice of negative comments on here OP, if you like Posie then use it.

I don't like Albie at all. If you do use it, at least give him a proper full name. George is nice.

Your baby will be an adult for most of his or her life.
Bear in mind that most people are known as Firstname Surname, so check that the combination works.

Given you’ve asked for an opinion I’m another who finds Posie extremely twee, cutesy and a nickname rather than a proper name. Same with Albie I’m afraid. Annabel is nice.

I'm not keen, but I went to school with a Posy who was a more solidly built girl and she was nicknamed Posy Pudding which stuck for years 😬 each to their own though, the world would be boring if we all liked the same things!

If I meet someone with what I think of as a twee / cutesy name, the name stops feeling like that the more I get to know them - it just becomes their name.

But before the grey kicked in I always looked much younger than I was, & getting taken seriously used to be hard enough. Having a silly, childish cutesy name would have just made it harder!

Posy is a beautiful name. If you read raise you dd to be strong and confident, it really wouldn’t matter what you call her as she’ll be able to carry off any name.

It might be cute on a little girl but imagine a woman in her 40’s introducing herself as Posie.

The same goes with Albie- lovely while he’s under 10 but I just can’t imagine a middle aged man called Albie. All the early twenties Alfie’s I know have switched to Alf, presumably as it’s less cutesy.

I’d always put a more adult sounding version of the name on the birth certificate in case they decide they really don’t want to be Posie or Albie as an adult. Yes, there will be others around with similar names when they reach adulthood but it’s always good to have options rather than being given a nickname/short version in the first place.

I like it. Perfectly nice name. But definitely spell it Posy. Just choose another name you love for the middle name, not some random name that 'goes'. I like Faye, Tamsin, Sasha or Laura.

It's very cute as a nickname. It makes me think of Posy Simmonds the cartoonist (and Ballet Shoes). Posy Simmonds seems to be called Rosemary as her full name. I reckon it's good to have a "serious" name too.
