Pretty much decided on Posie if baby is a girl but we are completely stuck for a middle name... does anyone have any suggestions? I quite like Posie Annabel but I’m not sure?! Thanks xx

@Flappingflamingo

Posie Parker isn't anywhere near her actual name so seems a bit odd to me that people would be using that as a marker for the name... I'm not slating anyone for it or the name just find it a strange comparison
I know, her real name’s Kellie-Jay & she’s using that a lot more nowadays. She’s still the first person I associate the name Posie with though, & the reason I think of Posies as being hardcore instead of twee.
YoureRight · 24/10/2020 16:17

Posie Lu and Posie Jay are on a whole other level of dire suggestions 😄
Would you like to be called Posie, OP? Think about everyday interactions and having to introduce yourself as that, shout it across playgrounds, etc.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 23/10/2020 23:22

Posy/Posie Elizabeth is lovely. It's good to have an unusual name. I didn't meet anyone with the same name as me until I was 16 and it was another 15 years before I met another. I have no problem being taken seriously in a professional role either.

I also know a man in his 50s called Albie. It suits him completely.

@Blondefirsttimemum

I’ll also ask just incaseGrin does anyone think the name posie is rediculous? I’ve had a few comments that it’s silly and won’t work on an adult but I love it and tbh think it will fit in with all the unique and cutesy names people are giving their children these days! X
Since you asked, I personally hate it, like so so much! But, I have noticed that lots of people like it so it’s definitely just seems to be a taste thing. I’d never try to put anyone I knew off the name in real life. And there’s plenty of names around nowadays that are more suited to small children than adults. But as they get older that will change as there will be loads of Gracie-May’s and whatnot around. I mean that in a good way!

I also think of posy simmonds who I love and I love the name too Smile

MikeUniformMike · 23/10/2020 22:16

I see Postie when I read Posie.

PoodleMoth · 23/10/2020 20:23

I love Posie! It was on my list but my husband wasn't keen. Elizabeth goes nicely

lobsteroll · 23/10/2020 13:15

I think Posy/Posie is absolutely fine for an adult but if you gave her a middle name like Elizabeth/Annabel, she could always use that instead if she wanted to when she got older.

bbee12 · 23/10/2020 10:40

I think Posie is lovely, and that Posie Elizabeth goes really well

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 23/10/2020 10:38

@EmpressJKRowlingSpartacus my thoughts exactly. I love Posie Parker and she's not cutesy in the least, she's also taken seriously as an adult.

I always find it odd that people think I name will mean they won't be taken seriously. They'll be taken seriously if they behave in a professional manner 🤷🏻‍♀️

MegaBloxRoxx · 23/10/2020 10:35

Posie Petunia? She is naming an actual person not a doll.

polkadotx · 23/10/2020 10:28

I love the name Posie. Very pretty.

And as for the "it's not serious enough" I've never met someone and thought oh no, your name isn't serious enough. I wouldn't even think twice about someone's name 😶

Have you considered Posie Mae?

Lovely name choices OP. It's so hard to pick the one isn't it!

Coffeeoverload · 23/10/2020 10:24

Selfie? Hmm

thethoughtfox · 23/10/2020 10:21

Definitely Josephine with Posy as nickname.

PeskyRooks · 23/10/2020 10:17

Sorry about the apostrophe on daughters grammar police x

PeskyRooks · 23/10/2020 10:15

I couldn't agree more with @TabithaMeow all three of my daughter's have got cute pretty names and so have most of their class they don't stand out as odd at all (and they all have grandmother's names as middle names!)

I love Posie it's a lovely name. I'd rather be called Posie/Posy than Pauline or Petrova.
Love Hattie too it's my guinea pig's name!
Annabel is nice.
Elizabeth is nice.
I would have Posie Petunia but that's just me.

lunalulu · 23/10/2020 09:57

Posie Olivia

TabithaMeow · 23/10/2020 06:48

I think it is lovely - vintage, uncommon, pretty but also has a sassy feel! She will be growing up surrounded by little girls named Evie, Lily, Rosie, Daisy, Poppy, Kitty, etc - sweet, feminine names are very in fashion at the moment and so I think it will sound fine on an adult! We will have Doctors called Rosie, Judges called Daisy, lawyers called Posie... It will be totally normal, and so it should be! I don't understand the Mumsnet insistence that in order to ensure that their child is successful in the future, a long, often clunky, and formal name needs to be chosen. I think Posie Elizabeth is amazing! I love it! I am a teacher with an _y name and the name has never done me any harm 😊

RedRec · 23/10/2020 06:06

Posie is beautiful, OP. And I can see it working perfectly as an adult name too.

Porridgeoat · 23/10/2020 04:50

Posy much nicer then all the names you’ve mentioned. Also Elizabeth is great because it has so many variants - Liz, Lizzie, Beth, Betty, Betsy. Eliza, Elle.

George is nice for a girl or boy but posey elisabeth is a great name

Firebird83 · 22/10/2020 18:52

It’s cute on a little girl but can you really imagine a 40 year old woman being taken seriously with a name like Posie? It also sounds too much like poser!

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 22/10/2020 16:49

I like Posie, I think it’s sweet and cute for a little girl. However I would worry how it would sit with a teenager or a grown women. Personally I’d try to find a way to work it in as a nickname so she has options when she’s older. That said, you are right that she’ll be growing up in a generation of people who will become adults with cutesy names.

Posie Elizabeth is lovely, as is Posie Annabel.

SionnachRua · 22/10/2020 12:33

@eaglejulesk

Why don't people read the OP's question? She didn't ask for your opinions on the names chosen for her baby, simply for suggestions for a middle name to go with Posie! Who the hell do you think cares about your opinions? I sincerely hope some of you don't respond to a verbal question from family or friends with such judgey answers.
Oof, you've egg on your face here Grin RTFT.
Flappingflamingo · 22/10/2020 12:27

Sorry, I just keep thinking of ring a ring a roses, a pocket full of posies... 😔
Elizabeth and Harriet are beautiful names but obviously go for what you love
