Boys Name Help

Logevefrey · 20/10/2020 10:23

Hi there,

Pregnant with baby number 4 and baby is a surprise this time round.
We have decided on a girls name but really struggling with a boys name.
We know we want the middle name to be Jonathan.

At the moment our favourites are:

Cole Jonathan
Enzo Jonathan
Maximus Jonathan

What do you guys think? Or do you have any other suggestions? 😊 Sibling names are Logan Evie and Freya.

Hope you can help 😊

Thanks for your comments again.
@NC4Now Our surname begins with H and is 2 syllables.
I am so confused with names right now. I do still like the 3 original names I mentioned.
Austin I like but OH doesn't as he doesn't think it rolls off the tongue easily 🤔 but he did say he liked the nn Aussy when I suggested Austin. Which made me think about the name Oscar for the nn Ozzy but then is it getting too popular now?
@micc not long for you, good luck! 😁 I hope you find a name too. I have 8 weeks left so still have abit of time to decide 🙈

I'm in the same position as you OP! I'm currently 40+5 and feel like I'm still going to be pregnant at bloody Christmas! My OH was losing the plot about names, he even said, no names sound like names anymore I've read too many ahaha. With our DD we just had the name instantly. We both loved it, job done. And we have a few names if it's a girl this time we love so we will decide on one of them when she is here if it's a girl. But boys? It's so difficult imo! I've been rattling on about it for 9 months and he keeps asking about Max too as it's a family name for him. I've just given up, the other day I said I just dont want to talk about it anymore and he was like wooooooow! Hahaha. I dont know how I feel about Austin.. I don't hate it and if you like it go for it OP :) I love a nickname and I cant think of one for Austin..
Still really like Cole on your list :) I hope you have that 'moment' we are all looking for!!

Flymetothestars · 26/10/2020 06:55

Austin is one of my favourite names @Logevefrey

NC4Now · 25/10/2020 23:44

What’s your surname like? Are you comfortable telling us the first letter and number of syllables?

I like Max. How about Huxley? I’ve always thought that’s a cool name.

Logevefrey · 25/10/2020 23:33

Yes it is such a fab name but just can't help but think it's abit too unheard of 🤔
Been trailing the Internet for more ideas and came across Austin. What are peoples opinions?
I think I'm slightly doing ohs head in with names at the moment. It's just with our son we had his name straight away and both girls we couldn't decide until days after they were born. This time I would love to have a name straight away for him or her 😊

Hmm.

Enzo is one of those names which you think 'Wow that's a fab name' .... but you somehow wouldn't actually want to call your child it Grin

Personally I think that unless you have Italian heritage it looks like a bit of a try-hard choice.

Eggbaguette · 23/10/2020 15:45

Maximus!

Logevefrey · 23/10/2020 15:13

Yes I totally agree with the name Jonathan as a middle name it's never going to be used really it's just the meaning behind it. OH still can't let Enzo go which I do also really like but I just don't know if it's abit too out there? 🤔

FizzyGreenWater · 22/10/2020 11:25

There's also Mal (short for Malachi or Malcolm) - love this, and it's a bit more out there than Max perhaps?

FizzyGreenWater · 22/10/2020 11:24

Max Jonathan is great.

But YES - top tip - how the first name goes with the SURNAME is about a million times more important than the middle name. Jonathan will pretty much go with anything, it's lovely. But in everyday life, it'll never be used and most people won't even know what it is.

Max goes with a long or a short surname pretty well I think, the only issue might be if you have a short surname with the same sounds in it - so e.g. a Max Flack might be pushing it.

Logevefrey · 22/10/2020 10:31

Thankyou for all your comments, Max is definitely standing out more at the moment to me Smile

Another vote for Max Jonathan.

I don't like Enzo or Cole at all.

Firebird83 · 21/10/2020 22:27

Cole or just Max, not Maximus.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/10/2020 19:58

Ivar/Ivor can sound a bit jokey depending on your surname. Ivo however goes nicely with your other kids names and avoids the joke.

Logevefrey · 20/10/2020 19:36

Thanks for all your suggestions and opinions, really helps! Jonathan is OHs dad name so would like that as a middle name as the others all have family names as middle names. We just didn't want anything too common but not too out there. Maximus is OH choice... Yes he's a gladiator fan! He also likes Ivar but I just can't help but think I've a... joke? 🤔 If you get what I mean?

Cole Jonathan - not keen on Cole. Depends on the surname. Sounds great with Porter.
Enzo Jonathan - I like Enzo but it's Italian, might go ok with the surname Smith.
Maximus Jonathan - Maximus makes me think of Gluteus Maximus. Just use Max.

I'd stop looking at which one goes best with Jonathan and focus on which one goes best with the surname.

Ellis
Alfie
Elias
Dexter
Miles
Blake

Whatsyourflava · 20/10/2020 15:47

Has this helped? Have you added any to your list @Logevefrey ?

How about Tristan? Curtis?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 20/10/2020 15:19

Of the 3 names you like Enzo or Cole seem the best fit with your other children, but a bit more unusual/quirky compared to the other names in the sibset. Jonathan is lovely!

Maximus is very strongly Roman/Gladiator and might be hard for a child to live up to, although Max on it's own is lovely (or as a shortening for Maxwell/Maxim).

Another 2 syllable, popular but not overly classical/traditional feeling name would work well with Logan, Evie and Freya, such as:
Ezra,
Felix,
Noah,
Asa,
Theo,
Leo,
Milo,
Rowan,
Rory,
Hugo,
Ethan,
Caleb,
Oscar,

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 20/10/2020 13:14

I love Maximus but I'm bias as I have a nephew with that name

micc · 20/10/2020 13:05

I like Cole the most :)
I also love Max, but I lean towards Maxwell. I think they all sound great though :)

I agree with PP, Felix and Vincent are great names.

Katgolde · 20/10/2020 12:44

I like Maximus Jonathan. Maxwell is also nice with max for short.

Daniel
Xander
Ray
Theo
Vincent
Stanley
Harry

Whatsyourflava · 20/10/2020 12:29

Cole is lovely

FizzyGreenWater · 20/10/2020 11:25

Max Jonathan is a good suggestion.

Enzo fits best with your other names I think. Cole just sounds a bit made up next to them. But - it's not really a great fit or a very nice name - sorry.

Felix?
Ethan?
Fintan?
Otis?

LarkDescending · 20/10/2020 11:18

Not keen on Maximus, but how about Max Jonathan?
