Paige is quite dull.

celestebellman · 19/10/2020 18:02

Paige is not a very attractive name, sound or meaning.
Esme is lovely.

TheVanguardSix · 19/10/2020 18:01

Esme.

I really don't like Paige. Sorry. It's just got to be one of the blandest names out there.

Husky12 · 19/10/2020 18:00

Thanks for all your replies now to convince DH!

Paige is terrible, I know of a baby Paige and it just seems a really silly name for a lovely baby. Esme is nice, but please not esmae!

Katgolde · 19/10/2020 16:11

Esme

or Waynetta

SirSamuelVimes · 19/10/2020 16:06

Breaking the almost unanimous view, I'd say Paige just because Esme is very popular at the moment.

throwaway100000 · 19/10/2020 16:05

I like Esme

PuppyMonkey · 19/10/2020 16:03

I've also currently got a lovely Esme at secondary school too so that gets my vote. Grin

Not Esmae though, shudder.

ShipOfTheseus · 19/10/2020 15:55

I’m not keen on either, but I’d go for Esme if pushed.

Odile13 · 19/10/2020 15:53

I prefer Paige

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 19/10/2020 15:47

50-50 for me. In terms of name popularity Esme is currently 46th and Paige is 206th.
I prefer the meaning of Esme but something about the sound of Esme... i can't put my finger on it... maybe the z sound. I hear SMA too.

Esme

Greenbook320 · 19/10/2020 14:41

Esme it is beautiful x

Husky12 · 19/10/2020 11:07

Paige is a little dated now.
Esme is just lovely imo.
You should also consider Wane Grin

Echobelly · 19/10/2020 11:01

I have an Esme - (in secondary school now). We could not settle on a name, then my other half suggested it a week before she was born. I liked that it wasn't unheard of, but not super popular either!

Sunnydaysstillhere · 19/10/2020 10:54

Saw it in lights in A&E once as Esmae and quite liked the spelling!
I was going to use Paige over 25 years ago but had boys! Bit dated imo.

Husky12 · 19/10/2020 10:53

Thanks so much all seems resounding !

@percheron67

Esme. Paige is : Outdated American and sounds like part of a book.
This. Esme is lovely.
Biscuitsneeded · 19/10/2020 10:49

Esme. For the reasons given above.

Kanaloa · 19/10/2020 10:45

Both nice. Esme is a bit more popular than Paige nowadays I would say. I couldn’t choose one over the other but Esme Paige/Paige Esme is nice together.

Smellybluecheese · 19/10/2020 10:43

Esme

Chocomel · 19/10/2020 10:42

Teacher here. Every Esme I've taught has been lovely. But every Paige.... not so much. Therefore - my personal preference is for Esme or Esmé.
